Item is sturdy and easy to install. It seems to be well built and hopefully will last longer than the plastic models that are almost as expensive. The only drawback is the flaps sometimes don't close all the way and gap on one side or another. This doesn't happen all the time and with the double flaps it generally does not cause a problem.

I am doing a full renovation and we installed these cat doors in the hole in the wall from an AC unit that we removed after installing Central Air conditioning. It was avery thick wall so we had to adapt the door with extra framing. I have not moved in yet so I can't totally comment on durability...bit it's built sturdy. I'm Happy.

I loved the fact that my dogs, a Husky and Malamute have not been able to break it, tear the flapper or get in when I close the doggy door. The lock works great on it. My dogs love it, I love it. Great product, great sturdy material. I had purchased 2 other doggy doors but this one has been the only one that has not been destroyed by my furbabies!!
