We bought this small dog door a month ago to fit a new patio door. It replaced an older door used by our small dog (bichon frise) for 14 years. Installing the door into the new patio door was easy. The product is well-built and feels durable. I had read some comments that some dogs had problems opening the two flaps to enter. Well, it happened with our old dog. She was used to one flap only and at first she wouldn't even try. Little by little we pushed her gently through the door to get her accustomed to the different opening. To help her further and make it easier, we just folded one flap around itself (it can hold like this) and our dog started to become comfortable pushing through one flap to come in. Then after a week or so, we put back the second flap in place and our dog came in without any problem, she was now used to it. As for our neighbor's cat who comes in to visit once in a while, he came in on his first try without any problem... In summary, good product, just some training and getting used to it required for dogs, cats are obviously exempt.

Let me tell you, getting this dog door has been quite a journey! Our contractor did a fantastic job installing it, and the sturdy steel frame and magnetic stripe flaps make me feel so confident in the product. At first, I was worried about how our dog would take to the new door. She was a bit hesitant and confused, but with some patience and training, she got the hang of it. The adjustable tunnel was a lifesaver, and the magnetic stripes keep everything in place while still being easy for our pup to use. After the initial adjustment, our dog absolutely loves her new freedom! It's so heartwarming to see her happy and independent. I'd definitely recommend this dog door to anyone looking to give their pet more freedom. Just be ready for a bit of training, and you'll be good to go!

I just installed this door (small size) for my cats to use. I replaced a cheapo one with this to keep out the cold on the windy side of my house. It seems very well built and engineered. When I want my cats inside, this unit has a plastic panel to block it and even another for outside in bitter cold.

I installed a "name brand" dog door for my Dachshunds so they could run around outside whenever they wanted in my securely fenced backyard. I live at the Beach on The Gulf in Florida. This door was a single flap that can "deform" a little with the heat and humidity after a while. If I take off the flap a good scrub does "rehab" it decently and it'll "seal OK" after again. Still, I know that I am losing a lot of $$$ in AC out that single flap door! (When a good storm comes through, and the wind blows in from the Beach it'll actually blow the flap open frequently.) Enter this door with the double flap. While my previous dog door was a "name brand" and was a quality aluminum dog door THIS dog door is a beast compared to that one! It has a serious quality feel and look to it! (By the quality and cost of this dog door I am assuming this company is a "name brand" also, I just personally have not heard of them.) I previously in the house previous to this one had a "tunnel two flap" dog door of the same "recognizable name brand" of my single flap door this is replacing. While I was very happy with that dog door, and it was "beefier" than the "single flap" door this is replacing, THIS dog door puts it to shame! Of course, there is only so much you can "do" with a dog door so the "difference" might not be a great as it seems, but this door really is that impressive IMO. I already had a hole cut in my door and did not need the "tunnel" feature as I am using it on a door, not a wall, I do appreciate the double flap and will appreciate the $$ it will save me in "cooling the outside" like my Dad used to accuse me of while standing in the doorway of an outside door I was leaving open! Installation was easy and straight forward IMO, instructions were good. It includes a template for the size hole needed. Just an overall VERY high-quality product. Well worth the price.
