I installed a "name brand" dog door for my Dachshunds so they could run around outside whenever they wanted in my securely fenced backyard. I live at the Beach on The Gulf in Florida. This door was a single flap that can "deform" a little with the heat and humidity after a while. If I take off the flap a good scrub does "rehab" it decently and it'll "seal OK" after again. Still, I know that I am losing a lot of $$$ in AC out that single flap door! (When a good storm comes through, and the wind blows in from the Beach it'll actually blow the flap open frequently.) Enter this door with the double flap. While my previous dog door was a "name brand" and was a quality aluminum dog door THIS dog door is a beast compared to that one! It has a serious quality feel and look to it! (By the quality and cost of this dog door I am assuming this company is a "name brand" also, I just personally have not heard of them.) I previously in the house previous to this one had a "tunnel two flap" dog door of the same "recognizable name brand" of my single flap door this is replacing. While I was very happy with that dog door, and it was "beefier" than the "single flap" door this is replacing, THIS dog door puts it to shame! Of course, there is only so much you can "do" with a dog door so the "difference" might not be a great as it seems, but this door really is that impressive IMO. I already had a hole cut in my door and did not need the "tunnel" feature as I am using it on a door, not a wall, I do appreciate the double flap and will appreciate the $$ it will save me in "cooling the outside" like my Dad used to accuse me of while standing in the doorway of an outside door I was leaving open! Installation was easy and straight forward IMO, instructions were good. It includes a template for the size hole needed. Just an overall VERY high-quality product. Well worth the price.

This dog door is really well made and sturdy. We were concerned about a dog door causing heat/cooling loss, but I have no concerns with this dog door. The plastic telescope part is thick and strong. The doors are edged in metal which adds to the structural integrity. My favorite part is that the flaps are super thick and have magnetic closures to keep the flaps from moving around when no one is using it. I have a cat who wants to go outside now, and he can't push through these flaps so that's a big plus. The install was easy. The only difficulties we had was that our door was metal with a foam core, so that took a bit more to prep. But it worked in the end! There are also 2 security inserts (inside and outside) to lock the door when you don't want it used. I've got 2 dogs, both around 60 lb. One is about 4" taller and has longer legs. The other is kind of stubby, so placed the door low enough for the short one to get through. My taller dog has no problems using the door. My stubby dog is able to use it as well, she's just nervous about it. We are training them with treats and they are getting better and better. I definitely recommend this dog door.

We recently decided we should have a doggy door as it's been hot, and we have not been wanting to open the door over and over again for our dog to go outside to do his business. We got this large dog door for our back door and now we can't imagine not having it. It's fairly easy to install. I had my husband do it, so I'm not sure from my experience. Once installed, you notice how it is made with good quality materials and is heavy duty. The best part about it, the flap is magnetized so you don't have to fret about all the hot (or cold) or getting through the hole in your door and into your house. Bugs don't get in, and neither does the weather. That itself is totally worth it! My dog easily goes in and out and we don't have to be worried about the other elements. This is definitely a good product.

The construction of this door is very good. It comes with good instructions and installs easily. It is designated as a large door for dogs up to 90 lbs. I have boxers that weigh around 70 lbs and they have some difficulty getting in and out. They are able to use but I would not describe this as a large door.

What I call a large dog would not fit in this door. I think we are looking at this scale. A Chihuahua is a small dog. A Cocker Spaniel is a medium size dog. A Britney Spaniel or an Australian Shepard is a large dog. Then this is barely adequate. But I guess we have unusually large dogs here. My Doberman is 120 lbs and stands up over seven feet tall when he rears up on his hind quarters and puts his paws on your shoulders and looks like Dolph Lundgren in "Rocky V. But this is not what I call large by my standards. On the other hand, it is extremely well made. It made me wish I had a Britney Spaniel so I could keep it. But alas, no. I just ordered it to review it and I will be passing it along to someone I haven't found yet. who has a "large" dog.

A big, solid, heavy-duty dog door. Installation was straightforward, but took some effort. Worth it if you have a larger dog that needs to go in and out without bothering you every time. Very well constructed.

We have a furry family member who is very energetic and barrels out the door when ready to bark at the mailman and delivery people. She puts a lot of wear on the doggy door very quickly and wears them out fast. I found the materials in this much stronger than what we had. It is a quality item, very well made. I particularly like the steel frame that it has, and it was very easy to install. This is a strong door, and I really think it meets our needs well. Recommended.

My doggie is loving this. It took a good while to install for a newbie like me. I like that it has a way to lock at night. That was my biggest worry. It seems pretty sturdy. It definitely lets hot air and bugs in though.
