I came across this particular laundry detergent first by reading about it's #1 ranking on ConsumerReports.com. I then wanted to get real "consumer reviews" from Amazon.com and Walmart.com. Since Walmart struck their deal with Persil to be the exclusive carrier in the United States, this #1 rated UK product came available to us in the states. MY PARTICULAR NEED: I became frustrated with our endless search for an effective laundry detergent. Firstly, I have eczema that can be triggered by fragrances, chemicals, dye's, etc, but most importantly, the smell of my husband's workout clothes started to appear on my 'clean clothes' if I tended to sweat a little; and I mean, just a little. A little background, he is an F-16 and commercial airline pilot. He works out everyday and likes to get a good sweat in to keep his body in tip-top shape. During his trips when working with the commercial airline, he keeps his used sweaty clothes in a sealable laundry bag until he can get home to launder them. So yes, these nasty clothes would sit and marinate for several days, up to a week. Trying to keep our footprint small, we try to keep our separate washing loads to a minimum and the size of our loads to the maximum. However, I wash his workout clothes in a separate load, all together. Because they would never been fully clean the residue would somehow transferring to the rest of our clothes through the washer, in the finished loads basket, or in the closet/drawer. They would come out 'smelling clean' but after getting a little sweaty in our normal clothes, that same B.O.wy/musty/pungent smell started to appear. So I was in between a rock and a hard spot. Either keep throwing away and purchasing new" sweat wicking" gear after he wears them or try to find a detergent that will actually work. Challenge accepted. METHOD: I have always had to soak the clothes or prewash them with vinegar to try to release all of the smell,bacteria and dead skin cells that interweave themselves in the special fiber's that his clothes are made with. So I have tried every suggested method and detergent that I could find on the internet to get those clothes back to not stinking so bad after he starts to sweat. HOW I USED THE PERSIL ON HIS STINKY WORKOUT CLOTHES: What I did with his entire drawer of workout shirts, shorts, socks, and underwear. I soaked them for 1 hr in a mixture of warm/hot water with a little Dawn dish soap, vinegar, and a touch of TSP (Yes, I know that this is extreme but they were very pungent even after repeated washings in our machine.) I then placed them into the LG washer (model number: WM80000HWA) on the "Sanitary" setting. I them place them into the dryer on the "Cotton/Normal" setting. RESULTS: With other detergents, same settings and method, they would come out smelling clean. With further investigation; i.e. face-buried-into-the-freshly-laundered-load-sniff-test, I could still smell a tiny little linger of stink. Even after repeated washings, I could never fully get those clothes clean. Time after time, the moment he starts to sweat, the room is filled with yuck. After just one load of soaking with my simple solution for 1 hr, washing on sanitary and drying normal, the entire load of his marinated workout gear came out smelling clean with absolutely no linger of stink! So I then took his entire pile of folded "clean" and stored workout clothes from his drawer and did that load as well. They all came out clean. The real test was after a hard workout. To my utter surprise, he didn't stink up the entire gym, and close up, he didn't stink. I mean, if you put your face into his pit he would stink, that is normal, but HASMAT didn't have to come into the place after he left! OVERALL: I give this product 5 stars. I too have had better results and less headache with using this product in my laundry. Not only did I find that my husband's clothes would actually come out cleaner compared to all other brands, but my whites were coming out whiter as well (without pretreating). I am very impressed with my results and this is my current preferred brand of detergent for all of our clothes. *NOTE - Yes, the detergent smell will be too strong on your load if you use TOO MUCH and not throughly cleansing your clothes after washing them with detergent! That is the fault of the machine and how you wash your clothes! I did not find the smell of this detergent over powering nor offensive (I am very sensitive to smells). My eczema has not flared up and it hasn't caused any concerns so far. I also put half of the recommended amount of Persil into my washing machine that LG indicates/recommends. So I am saving a little there! BOTTOM LINE - IT IS A MUST TRY! Purchase a little bottle like I did and use it on a few loads. Get the amount that you use, dialed in and see the performance of this cleaner. Worse that could happen is that you don't like it and have to find another. ... show more

Easily the best laundry detergent around.
TL;DR It's good cleaning at a good price with a good scent. I love it. Pros: Cleans well, smells amazing, has not caused any problems with the sensitive skin issues in my family, good price, available in multiple scents and sizes, can also be found in stores, good on colors or black or white without issue Cons: Dyes and fragrances may irritate sensitive skin, some may not appreciate the fragrance as it is rather strong, stain removers may still be necessary I won't lie and say that Persil is some miracle detergent that will wash away not only your stains and smells but also your financial troubles and your worst enemies. It's just a detergent, after all. But it IS a good detergent, and sometimes that's as good as you're going to get. I made the switch from Gain to Persil despite the slight price increase in doing so and I have no regrets. Several members of my family, including myself, have very sensitive skin and will develop contact dermatitis due to irritation, but we've been using Persil for about three months now with no issues at all. It smells amazing and works quite well, although it still does require using regular stain removers for the tougher issues. Best of all, it is available in several scents and in multiple size options, both in stores and on Amazon, so there's probably a scent and size that will work for you no matter how much laundry you do or what your favorite smell is. All in all, I'm a fan of Persil and it would take a LOT for me to get to switch to another brand again. 10/10 would recommend. ... show more

Works very well
I live out in the country. Everything in my home turns dirt red. If you have ever been around red dirt you know what I am talking about. I gave up owning anything white years ago as it will become dingy and red in a very short period. For those that aren't aware, red dirt becomes this very fine powder in the summer and blows all over everything. You can't keep it out of a house. You can write your name in the dust inside from it literally within 24 hours of dusting. It gets into closets, closed drawers and settles on to everything. Nothing stays untouched and it stains. Life in the country. However, since I have started using this laundry soap, my clothes are cleaner and I can actually have a few white things as this seems to even take the "red" out. I do personally love the scent, but I marked it as a 4 star because my animals are not crazy about it. The scent on clean clothes will last a couple of weeks or so. I rarely have to use drier sheets now. It just bugs the dogs noses, but they get over it after a day or so after washing day. Best There Is!!
Scent: Intense Fresh Size: 100 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Had $300 compression stockings that were black from trudging through wet mud. Got home and thought I threw them away because they were ruined. I tossed them in an old hamper that was going to storage in error and I ran across them three months later- stiff, black- but no mold or mildew. I had a bottle of Persil that a friend gave me to try, so I rubbed some of the product on the stockings and soaked for 15 minutes as directed. All I could say was "WOW" when I went back. The water was black and they were pretty much clean. I soaked them again for 15 minutes to get the little bit that was ground in and they are just like new. I have been a loyal Tide user all my life- BUT NOT ANYMORE!!!!. I was so impressed with the performance I went to Amazon at 2am and bought 2 bottles and then wrote the company praising them for an excellent product! The cost is a little more then Tide but the savings was worth it!! You get what you pay for!!! Its been three days since I washed those stockings and the wonderful "Intense Fresh" smell is still there. Try Persil- YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!! ... show more

One of Highest Rated Detergents You Can Buy
Love the scent, although it's not clear that EVERYBODY loves it as much as some. It's also one of the highest rated detergents by Consumer Reports as well, and as typical of CR, they were right on. Tide Plus Ultra Stain Release was rated the best, while Persil 2in1 was number 2, and Persil ProClean (the version I'm reviewing) was rated #3. Btw, if you don't have a membership to the CR website, it's relatively inexpensive and I highly recommend it as you have easy access to all of their reviews. At any rate, I absolutely love this scent and the way it cleans... and for those that may like to add scent packs, there's really no need with Persil ProClean, as the scent is more than strong enough just from the detergent, itself... therefore, if you're spending extra money on scent packs (and you like the smell of Persil, of course) then you can save some money. All of the above said, I wanted to add that Amazon (and the diligent workers at the Amazon warehouses) do an excellent job of packaging the Persil laundry detergent. It has a cardboard holder with two holes in the top that lock the detergent in the tightly spaced box, while Amazon uses special tape on the lids of the Persil to keep it from loosening, and then leaking, during transport. So, finally, if you can pick up Persil ProClean at a reasonable price (and I did), then I very highly recommend giving it a try. ... show more

Awesome detergent
We recently traveled to the UK and got a chance to try out a version of this Percil detergent while staying in an Airbnb. I'll say that I've not been able to find the white version that we tried in the UK (it wasn't named anything special, it seemed like their "standard UK product"). I remember it has the nicest soft clean smell and really left clothes feeling softer than anything I'd tried in the US before. After a bit of searching and finding a Pro version, a soft version and a different version which includes active cultures that eat stains (or something like that), I'm glad I decided to go with this specific Pro detergent. It has almost the same scent as the UK version (a tiny bit "more intense" of the smell) and does a great job of cleaning our clothes without being too harsh (I can tell the clothes are fluffier and softer after coming out of the dryer), and the clothes smell SO NICE for a LONG time. We use this in an He machine and it works great. Our towels smell lovely for much longer than they did with Tide (FWIW, I disliked Tide He because it would leave this waxy film in the clothes that left streaks on things my clothes touched...very weird). My opinion is that this is the best "American" version of the Percil that we enjoyed using in the UK (a milky color in a white/blue bottle). Unfortunately, after a lot of other searching on the internet, I CANNOT find the UK version we used anywhere online (no where in the world...?) that will ship to the US. This will be your best compromise, but it's a pretty good one actually! ... show more

Since I've switched from my usual brand, I never looked back!
I used to feel that, for the most part, all laundry detergents were relatively the same. But over time, I've come to the realization that if you want something done right, you have to have the right tools. Persil Pro Clean Liquid is the first laundry detergent that I've used that actually follows through on its promises and not only leaves my clothes cleaner, brighter and smelling fresher, the first time, every time, but it has even saved some of my favorite shirts from the trash heap. It's a little more expensive, but there's really no comparison of the level of clean that this delivers every single wash. I have small predominantly indoor adult dogs who use washable pee pads. Persil easily gets the odor out. Seriously in my opinion, This is by far the best laundry detergent on the market. It even beats competitor brands by a long shot. Nothing else is comparable. It cleans extremely well, smells fantastic (get the Intense Fresh scent!), and doesn't fade clothes. A little goes a long way. Good Laundry Detergent
Scent: Intense Fresh Size: 100 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
My dearly beloved implored me to buy this after seeing an ad on TV, maybe during the Superbowl? I'm not sure. Anyway, we've used about half of the bottle. I can say that the smell of the detergent is really strong, and lasts a while. It's not unpleasant, just very intense, more so than with any other detergent I've tried. I can also say that my 15 year old son decided to be "funny" while eating spaghetti and meatballs the other night, and used his white tee shirt as a napkin (teenaged boys...*sigh*). I washed it immediately with this detergent, and the stains didn't come out, so, before running it through the dryer, I tried it again, measuring out the soap and putting some on the stains, letting it sit for about one minute and then adding it to the wash after the remaining soap and other items were in the washer. It came out bright white using that technique. My 19 year old also used this to clean his work clothes after spending a long day working on his car with his buddy; the grease stains by and large came out (he removed the remainder with Dawn dish detergent). The other thing of note is that the cap is the measuring cup, of course, but the lines for the amount of soap to be used are very faint, which means that if you aren't careful, you'll use much more laundry detergent than is required, and the bottle will disappear very fast. I took an old measuring cup and put it atop the bottle to be used for this detergent to prevent oversoaping. ... show more
