Unlike many gel pens Pentel Energel pens do not 'dry up' before I can use up all their ink. The pen is comfortable to hold. I have these pens in 0.5mm and 0.7mm as well as some with the "needle tip" and some with the "metal tip." I prefer the "needle tip" since it writes a bit finer than the "metal tip." I have the 0.5mm Energel pens mainly for when I'm doing bookkeeping since the ledger columns are extremely small. I also like the fact that for the colors I use most I can get refills instead of paying for a whole new pens. I have been using Energel pens for over 4 years now and I do a LOT of writing! The only con is that over time some of the pens fail to stay together as I'm writing. They screw together and that is the part that occasionally fails. Most of the ones that back out of the tread screws while I am writing have that happen before the first ink gel cartridge is empty. I end up taking the cartridge out (to use in another Energel pen) and throw the pen "jacket" away. If the threads fail, I can also literally pull the pen apart with little to no effort. If the threads last through the cartridge that the pen comes with the pen jacket tends to go on to last a really long time. I have several 0.7 purple needle tip Energies that I've had for years and just replace their cartridges. I purchase the refills on Amazon in packages of 12 and I have gone through over 24 of the 0.7mm purple needle tip ink cartridges. It is pretty rare, but occasionally a cartridge will start leaking around the tip. ... show more

The Pentel EnerGel pens are my favorite. I've been using them for years, and I am very picky with my pens--how they hold in my fingers and especially how smooth they write. These pens all write beautifully--they write perfectly smooth, and they flow with no resistance, even the green one! (I have found that most pens with green ink skip for some reason, but this one writes smooth.) Finding these was an accident (one was given to me), but now I remember buying Pentel pens by the box waaaay back before there were so many 'fancy' choices--to keep at my desks, both home and office. Pentel has always made a good pen! Just an fyi: the blue pen has regular blue color ink, not light blue or turquoise or anything like that. Fine 0.5 needle tip is just how I like it, and need it--my writing is rather messy and fine tips help me write smaller which makes it more readable. LOVE these pens, and a good price. ... show more
