Took the fathom 25N Star Drag out for a extended halfday trip. Loaded the reel with 65 lbs PP and a 66 yard (198 foot) 40 lbs mono top shot. The reel was smooth and quite; very light and easy to hold all day. I was surprized I was able to cast the reel further than my Shimano Trinidad 16A. The line peels off the reel smootly. This reel is perfect for flylining live baits on 15-25lb line for bass Bonita barracuda etc and cans handle a yellowtail if you’re lucky to get bit by one. Great reel.

Long casting reel

This is a very good reel. You can cast it so far, as a matter of fact I can just about throw it out of line. That being my only complaint. I wish the line capacity was bigger, because if you throw most of the line off of it, and get hung up and break off, your just about out of line. Might be great for guys that use braid. ... show more
