The PENN Battle IV is stronger and more durable than ever before. The Battle IV features our Hydro Armor sealing system that protects critical components no matter how harsh the conditions. The Battle IV combines our proprietary CNC Gear Technology, proven HT-100 carbon fiber drag system, and a Full Metal Body to deliver a reel built to withstand the force of big fish. Ranging in size from 1000 to 10000, the Battle IV series has a model for every angler. Saltwater breeds a different kind of angler. It toughens you. It cures you like bacon. It leaves you thirsty for the next fight. Hard core saltwater anglers need equipment that is as tough as they are, and as reliable as the rising tide. I’ve been using my Penn Battle IV 3000 since September 2025, and it has performed flawlessly. It’s an incredibly solid, smooth reel with excellent quality for the price. I use it for everything from bass fishing to inshore fishing, and it has handled every situation with ease. I’ve even landed several large redfish on it without any issues. Overall, it’s been a reliable and versatile reel that has exceeded my expectations. ... show more

I love this reel. Holds up well for saltwater fishing and has no problem handling 5-10 lb fish.

Excellent Reel - paired with a St. Croix rod. Great Saltwater Rig.
Style: Battle IV Size: 6000
Really nice reel. Exactly what I expect from Penn. It is my all-around reel for here in Florida. Boat, Dock, Pier, Bridges - works for everything. I put it on a St. Croix rod. What a great combo. Nary better.

A tough, reliable workhorse.
Style: Battle IV Size: 6000
I’ve used a few reels in this price range, and the Penn Battle stands out for one main reason: durability. The full metal body and CNC gearing give it a solid, no-flex feel that holds up well under load, especially when fighting bigger fish. The HT-100 carbon drag is smooth and strong, with plenty of stopping power for inshore and light offshore fishing. It doesn’t jerk or slip under pressure, which inspires confidence. Casting is consistent, and line lay is clean—especially with braid—so you won’t deal with many wind knots if it’s spooled right. It’s a bit heavier than comparable reels, and not the most refined or “buttery smooth” compared to higher-end Shimano or Daiwa options. ... show more
