  • Unbelievably Good
Size: AMD Ryzen7 7840HS/16GB+512GB
This thing is built like a tank. Its weight is shocking at first, and the fit&finish are impeccable. Right off the bat, these are populated with only one SODIMM (as described) so you can add another module (I used a Crucial stick of the same size/type) with no issue. The fan noise is very pleasant - it has a 'whoosh' sound instead of a whiny, high-pitched noise. Pros: - Fast. Very fast. I briefly tried out windows 11 (included) and it was very speedy. There was no bloatware on it as well (which I found surprising). Running ChimeraOS, steam games run shockingly well. - Quiet. Pleasant fan noise that only ramps rarely. - Well-built. The fit & finish are very, very nice. All pieces fit together extremely well. - RGB hardware button. There's a button on the back that requires only one press to turn off the RGB lights on the top. The 'off' state is remembered across reboots/power cuts! - BIOS. This appears to run a 'reference' AMD BIOS (this is a good thing) that exposes a LOT of options. Cons: - Front USB ports are extremely tight - it's a struggle to plug/unplug items. - Only one M.2 slot - Another slot would've been nice. - I wish it had the option for a USB-C PD port (instead of a 19V barrel jack). For the price (I was able to grab it for $450!) this has got to be the best AMD 7840-based mini PC out there. I would absolutely buy another one. I was hesitant at first as I'd never heard of this company but they quickly went to the top of my 'good brands' list after fiddling with this system. ... show more

  • Seems like a good value, but ended up disappointment so far...
Size: AMD Ryzen7 7840HS/16GB+512GB
Two issues: 1st one RAM slot was faulty, purchased a 16GB model (which came with 1x16GB installed on bottom slot) and attempted to upgrade to dual channel only discovered that top slot was FAULTY. (We tried multiple dual channel DDR5 SODIMMs all failed to boot, once removed top slot RAM, then it can boot again). 2nd, this machine had no valid Windows 11 COA key: with preinstalled Win11 P, it was told that License Key invalid; then we did a fresh installation using W11 USB Drive 23h2 build (directly download from microsoft), then it would say NO Windows Key detected!! Poor quality control as a NEW unit received, still waiting for response from seller (PELADN) for replacement or return/refund, depending on how PELADN handle our issue. ... show more

  • Metal construction, worked out of the box
Size: AMD Ryzen7 7840HS/16GB+512GB
I have been using MinisForum and Bee-Link mini PCs as both low-power Linux servers as well as remote-play Windows PCs for a couple years now. This PELADN system is my new favorite for low-power gaming. With an HDMI dummy dongle, I run Sunshine on this box, Moonlight on a MacBook Pro, and play older Windows games over the local network. It would probably serve just fine as a regular budget desktop gaming PC, but it definitely has the horsepower for more demanding non-gaming workloads. I also found this unit very easy to service and it has a very clean design. RGB is none of my concern, and thankfully it can be disabled easily. No regrets, and I would eagerly look forward to PELADN's future offerings if they keep this up. ... show more

  • Nice Looking, Heavy, Powerful Processor, Sometimes Noisy, Off-Brand Memory and NVMe Drive
Size: AMD Ryzen7 7840HS/32GB+1TB
Update: I had not used the front USB A connectors previously, but now having used both of them, they are extraordinarily tight - tight enough to scratch the USB connector on the cable. The USB C connector on the front is also a bit tight, but not a serious issue. I am wondering if somehow the connectors were squeezed a bit or if the front panel of the PC is causing the issue. The connectors work, but insertion and extraction require way too much effort. Outside: Attractive silver aluminum chassis, heavy (roughly 5 in. x 5 in. x 2 in. and 3 lbs.) with a LED lights around the top edges. Vent holes in both sides, top and bottom. It really looks nice. The lights have six effects plus off that you can cycle through by pushing the button on the back. No control of the lights beyond the button. Ports: Front: 2 each USB A 3.2, USB C 4.0, Reset, Power, and Audio jack. Back: USB A 3.2, USB A 2.0, 2 each HDMI 2.2, RJ-45 2.5G Ethernet, power jack, and light control button. Power Supply: A huge 120W, 6.32A, 19Vdc output supply. The brick is big and weighs 1 lb. 5 oz. (including cables) with a 5.5mm x 2.5mm jack. Note on ports: The product page mentions dual USB 4.0 ports, which would seem to be an error. I wish they had put a USB 4.0 port on the rear, but the only one is on the front. Internals: The Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU with AMD 780M GPU is a powerful combination in this form factor. You can remove four screws from the bottom to access the memory and drive. I did not choose to go further with disassembly, so I could not see the NVMe drive. There is a large heat sink and small fan for the drive and a second fan that I could not see in the top with the heat pipe for the processor. You can see the copper heat exchanger for the processor from the side. The RAM is DDR5 5600MHz, the RAM chips are from Micron/Crucial, but the RAM boards are branded Peladn. The Gen 4.0 NVMe SSD drive is pretty fast (Crystalmark said over 7000Mbs reads and over 6000Mbs writes), but it is non-brand and the brand details you can get from system information say it is also branded Peladn. Unlike many of the mini pc's I did not see an easy way to expand internal storage other than replacing the existing drives, but unless the drives or memory develop issues, I don't see any changes as necessary. Note on internals: The product page has the wrong GPU listed (they say 680M, while it is the better 780M.) Summary: I was able to buy this pc for $407 plus tax. Based on the prices for similar hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD) in mini pc's that price was $150 to $350 lower than the others, so the price for this level of performance is excellent. The quality of the hardware build is very good, the lights around the top are a gimmick, but do make give it an attractive look. Based on my initial use, there are two issues I have with the computer - the lack of a USB C 4.0 port on the rear of the chassis and the tendency for the fan to speed up under even small loads and make the machine noisy. What I have not evaluated as yet are manufacturer support of the pc, BIOS/UEFI updates, longer term reliability, and the actual quality of the non-branded memory and drive. However, my initial impression would give me no reason not to recommend this computer to someone looking for a mini pc which hits the current price/performance sweet spot for the installed CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD at a significant discount over the competition. Hopefully the vendor will get the errors on the product page cleaned up to avoid confusion for other buyers. The connectors work, but insertion and extraction require way too much effort. ... show more
