TL;DR: I REALLY like this carrier. It's well-made and thoughtfully-designed. It's a great value. You can't go wrong with this, but it is for medium cats or small and toy dogs under 12 lbs. I love that it folds flat for storage, under 2" thick. It has heavy gauge wire supports that snap into restraints that keep them in place. It has good quality zippers. The directions are mostly visual and absolutely excellent. Took me about 90s to put together. It's very sturdy. Every seam is bound. You can even remove the foam pad from the cushion cover to wash or replace it. It has entry on top, and both ends. There's a leash snap inside to keep the cat in. The shoulder strap is VERY long, and can be carried cross-body even if you are a very big person (I am). #KittenforScale: It even gets a seal of approval from my diffuse calico Scout. She things it's a nice haven from her brothers. Scout is just under 3 lbs. The open space is a snug fit for my foster kittens (the four are under 12lbs total). A small caveat, it tips over easily when empty (but that's because it's so light). It doesn't tip when there's a cat in it. The pet carrier arrived folded into a plastic bag with an easy to understand set of instructions. It opens nicely and the metal pieces lock easily into their tabs. It is the stated size. And it folds back up for easy storage. I like the carry on strap, it makes it convenient to carry in crowded situations. I like that there is an attached leash in the bottom of the carrier so you can snap it onto your pets harness or collar helping to ensure they cannot run off if you unzipped any of the sides to check on your pet. The zippers are heavy duty, they all work very well with no sticking. The mesh sides are open so that your pet has good air flow all the way throughout. The removable, slightly padded bottom is a nice addition. Although I do wish that the bottom was slightly firmer so that there was no ability for there to be any sag when you have a pet in the carrier.

I travel with my cat pretty often by car, and I’ve owned several pet carries over the years, so I can say this is a very sturdy carrier. The ends of the carrier have metal frames that are Velcroed in place so it doesn’t fall down. The material does seem sturdy, but there is a lot of mesh, so it probably wouldn’t hold up for a cat that doesn’t travel well (i.e. scratches and tries to get out). The various opening on the sides and top make it versatile if you need to feed your cat or pet to soothe them when traveling, and the storage pocket is an added bonus feature that I really like. The zipper has a push lock on it, too, which is added insurance for cats that might try to push their way out. The shoulder strap is a decent length for my medium-height frame, and it and the grip handle are comfortable enough. If you plan on traveling by plane, I would definitely check the airline’s carrier requirements. I noticed it’s on the tall side, and while I don’t travel by plane with my cat, I did check some airlines’ requirements and noticed the dimensions were a smidge over — not by much, less than an inch or quarter-inch at most — but it’s worth noting, especially since you never know if an airline is going to be very strict about these things. The overall size I found to be taller/narrower, but it didn’t affect my cat from turning around inside, albeit a tighter turn for my stocky, not-so-nimble British shorthair. A couple of other things to note: Because it’s sturdy, that also means it’s heavier than other soft carriers. My cat is 11+ pounds, which is no lightweight, so I prefer lighter carriers than not . The bottom padding was also extremely flimsy and didn’t come with an insert; rather, it was just folded fabric material, which makes the bottom of the carrier not the sturdiest for heavier-than-not pets.

My son opened this, set it up on the floor, and our 4-month-old kitten climbed right inside and claimed it: "Mine!" OK, then. The next day, we packed her inside and drove 6 hours up to visit relatives. She was a very good traveler. We left the case open on the floor between the couch and the easy chair, so she could rest in there whenever she wanted. When we left her inside too long for her liking, she tried very, very hard to claw her way out through the mesh window. She was unsuccessful, and did no damage to the mesh. The frame makes this case very stable, but the sides have some give, to make for a gentle ride. The case folds up flat for storage. Very good value.

As an engineer myself, I can appreciate when something shows that it was well engineered and implemented. The folding wire structure is sound and is easy to assemble, and just ever so slightly difficult to disassemble for storage, mainly the plastic clips that go onto the bottom of the wire frame. But since the clips are an integral part of the structure, I have no problem with this. The nylon fabric is washable once the frame has been removed. There are zippered openings on the front and top, with a velcro secured flap on top, too. On the back outside, a pocket is provided for papers or small items. The carrier can be carried either by a velcro secured handle, or by the included shoulder strap. Inside the carrier, a short leash with clip is provided for securing pets with collars. If using for a cat, I do believe the upper weight limit of 12lbs. is reasonable. Overall, a great product.
