I didn't look closely enough at the pictures before getting this coat. From the main pictures, it looks like a normal trench coat. It looked perfect to wear over a suit jacket on a rainy day. It turns out to have bizarre patterned patches on the sleeves and back. That gives the coat a whimsical look that makes me reluctant to wear it with a suit--at least on more formal occasions. Too bad, because the jacket looks good otherwise, fits well, and seems to be well-made. Its very thin and light. So, I guess "windbreaker" is an apt description. What I like: It's a suitable (pun intended) coat, but more for casual situations if you can help it. The sleeves and cut are sufficient. Buttons function without issue or pulling when left undone. What I dislike: The mixed pattern. In person, it's much worse looking than on the listing. It looks so out of place. I will be able to use this more with jeans and a hoodie for smart casual situations than wearing to court with a suit. Would I recommend: If not expecting to use this in professional/formal settings, yes. If you need that, find something in a solid color ... show more

Out of 4 people giving opinions on this coat (2 males & 2 females), the men think the addition of a plaid fabric is weird & the women think it’s cool! Not that this has anything to do with anything, BUT — My son who will wear this Men’s size Large thinks it’s odd. Besides that, the fit is good & the fabric is decent: ==He’s 6’0”, 172 lbs with broad shoulders & a narrow waist. ==I followed the size chart & ordered size Large (which is also his normal size) & the fit is good. ==The overall length (knee) & the sleeve length are right. ==My photos are before steaming which is very necessary! For a “throw on during a rainstorm” layer, it works. The materials are all really high-quality, and it should last for a long time. The buttons are big, and I love the silky interior. It definitely keeps me warm by keeping the rain off and the wind out. But what I appreciate the most about this coat is that in addition to the two pockets on the outside, it also has a pocket on the inside left breast. I got the black one, and it looks great with the pattern that they have added to it. I also TOTALLY love how the collar flips up. The trench coat is a standout piece if it's for a young guy who's into fashion and has the time to iron the jacket. The unique design looks great with the pattern on shoulder and back, but slightly funny for my 70+ year old father, lol. However, it feels comfortable, and the material is top-notch.

I love a good trench coat and was really looking forward to seeing this one. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that instead of being one solid color it has designs on it! I didn't pick up on this when I ordered it. And they are very cool patterned accents on this stylish jacket. Autumn is drawing nigh and this will be ideal outerwear attire for those mid-October days when the air is just starting to get slightly crisp (at least I hope it will be cooling off slightly).
