Not too big or small. We usually put off to side and out of the way until needed. Shred once weekly. No safety issues. It’s a shredder so you have to use your brains and not put anything it that you shouldn’t. It stops when full or when lid lifted. Happy with the purchase! This Recycleit paper shredder machine works great, and I appreciate the good value price very much from Amazon. It sure beats having to crank hundreds of paper sheets through a small sized, manual, kernel husk shredder. This shredder also worked better than expected regarding its performance of being moderately warm while in paper shredding operating.
