  • Great lense and impressive image stabilization
I've been very satisfied with this lense. The image stabilization is exceptional. I'm able to take reasonable quality photos of the moon at 300mm holding the camera in my hands. Since its a 100-300mm micro 4/3, it's not a great all around lense. It's rare that I'm not swapping lenses often as even at 100mm, the field of view is narrow. If you want a quality lense for those long shots, this is a great choice. If looking for an all round lense, or to carry a single lense for that next vacation, the zoom on this one may be too much with a narrow field. ... show more

  • The Lumix G Vario 100-300mm F4.0-5.6II. Love it!
I am not a long lens photographer, nor a wildlife photographer. I am more of a 28mm or 35mm equivalent prime lens photographer. However, here lately at home in Arizona, I have been noticing quite a few hawks throughout our town the past couple of weeks and I did not have the reach with the lens I had on hand. I then decided to invest in the ‘Lumix G Vario 100-300mm F4.0-5.6II’ for my Lumix DC-G9. Though the lens is a bit of a learning curve on my camera, with my style of photographing (I try to minimize the use of a tripod), I am pleased with the results of the lens. If you are in the market for a long lens, for your Lumix camera, purchase it and have fun. ... show more

  • Satisfied
Took it out for a spin right away for some birding practice. Need to get used to shooting with this lens as the slightest movement shifts you out of focus really quickly. Image stabilization when turned on helps a whole lot compared to it being turned off. Also, the lens is really sharp. I will have to remove my lens uv filter and just use the hood as it appears that images are sharper without a filter. ... show more

  • Best lens for the price
Quality is amazing, image it’s extremely sharp at maximum focal length. It feels tough and durable. The autofocus works impressively fast and the image stabilization is great. I’m really happy I bought this lens for my G7.

  • The Most Super Funnest Lens Ever in History of the Universe
The media could not be loaded. This lens is quite fun. I pair it with my Panasonic GM5 . As with any modern camera and lens, the resulting image files are high quality. To a large extent (imo), the results depend upon the individual behind the camera. This lens works well for lunar photography. Also, great for small animals. However, for very small birds, such as hummingbirds, best results will be at ~10 feet or less. Otherwise, the photo will require an excessive crop in post production. Note, the hummingbird video I uploaded to Amazon isn't displaying the full resolution of the original file. I uploaded it to YouTube for a better viewing experience. The plastic body feels solid. A small nitpick is the telescoping zoom. I would prefer an internal zoom mechanism. Between shots, I sometimes inadvertently press on the end of the lens while it is zoomed out. This pushes the lens in, and ruins my focus. Ooops! A constant aperture would also be great, but I understand these features would make the lens bigger, heavier, and more expensive. Big props to Panasonic for including the hood! It is very much appreciated. Hear that Canon? None of this hood-sold-separately for $40 nonsense. ... show more

  • It's a learning process but worth the money
I have had this lens for over a month and let me start by saying this, you will not find a better telephoto in this price range with the quality of this one. With that being said, you will not get sharp images right out of the box, allow me to explain. Most negative reviews on this product are due to user error. YOU HAVE TO TREAT THIS LENS LIKE A 600MM. Tips -USE A HIGH SHUTTER SPEED! 1/640 ( depending on your system) or more. -Practice, practice, practice. -Be patient, there is a strong learning curve Pros -Lightweight -Sharp images when used correctly -Excellent image stabilization -Weather sealed -Solid Build Quality Cons -Iffy low light performance -Autofocus tends to hunt a lot ( Biggest drawback in my opinion) -There is a learning curve -Not the fastest lens out there -Softer images at the long end Overall, if you're looking to start wildlife, sport, etc photography without breaking the bank, this is hands down your best bet for lenses. Keep practicing and you'll eventually master this thing! ... show more

  • Great lens at a great price
Just arrived today, slapped it on and nabbed a bird pic right away. Image stabilization seems to work pretty well, even for low shutter speeds. Lens is heavier than other native Panasonic and it isn’t a bad thing, feels good in a quality type of way. Amazing bokeh at any zoom level. Out of the box this lens is impressive and is delivering the type of images I had hoped for. Can’t wait to put it to the test. ... show more

  • Big results for little price
I don't think there is a better bang for the buck lens out there for the G line of cameras. The image stabilization of this lens rivals that of my canon 100-300 and still has a very good picture for video all the way out to 300. It may not perform the best in low light but it gets the job done and doesn't break the bank. The zoom is a little tight to start with but has softened up after use to look smooth enough for video. it feels a little lens heavy on the body so make sure you have a steady tripod for video and the gorilla pod won't be very steady for zoom work. The lens shade is perfect sized and you can still use the lens caps without taking off the shade. Update jan 2018....This lens has produced some of the best long range animal footage I could have hoped for in such a small and light format. The video is crisp, clean and clear and auto focus works really fast. It produces great bokeh and the stabilization is on par or better than my big canon lenses. Totally impressed. ... show more
