I know is not cheap but we all know that investing on good glass is a good investment as a lens will stay with you 5-10 without problems. During the lifetime of a lens, you will have at least two camera bodies as these will become obsolete or simply the technology advancements will make a newer body more desirable. A lens becomes obsolete maybe after 10 years when a new generation is released so I always think in the cost of a glass like something that will be useful for that timeframe. This one delivers pristine images and I will share some but Amazon compress images so what you see here is a mere downgraded copy of the nice image that I got from my lens. Focus is super fast and accurate. Has a good resistance to flaring and the included hood has a lock mechanism that will prevent moving while attached. Not much to say except get one! Zero complaints other than the high price. I don’t have a kit zoom to compare it to but the image quality is fantastic. It’s on the heavy side but it’s well built for it. While yes some of the canon color that I know and love does come from the camera body, this lens just gets out of the way and it’s so easy to get great results without having to fiddle much with this or that in post. ... show more

I've owned the Tamron 15-30 G2 lens, and this Canon RF lens blows it away completely. It's lighter, sharper, and far less vignetting. I currently use the Tamron 24-70 G2 for my mid-range zoom and now I want to dump it for the RF 24-70. I am attaching two images I took during Christmas Eve service at our church which was very dimly lit. Shot at iso800 and f/2.8 with shutter around 1/60 for the candle shot (35mm) and 1/15 for the ultra wide shot (15mm). I used this lens solely for the night and was able to get great group shots as well as performance shots. Snappy fast zoom, very quiet so I'm sure it would be ideal for video. Plastic feel, but honestly don't care, it keeps the weight down. Plus I prefer the matte finish to help hide fingerprints. Highly recommend. ... show more

    • Great lens, but fell short of expectations
This is a professional lens that has it all , image stabilization, auto focus, low light f/2.8, and the new rf mirror less mount . Attached to my r7 canon (crop sensor) I was not totally satisfied with focus accuracy at lower light levels. This issue and it’s high price was why it was returned.

I rented this lens before and was very happy with the results. The images are sharp and the colors are good. I cannot hear the lens and the auto-focusing is spot on. I can't wait to try this with some astrophotography. This is a big investment for a hobbyist like me so I was excited to finally pull the trigger. However, for this money, please ship it better. The box came crushed in even though the exterior box was pristine. So it was packed that way?!?! C'mon people. Luckily, it seems in good shape but I think I'm done with rolling the dice here. I will be getting products like this elsewhere regardless of the shipping time. ... show more
