  • For $100 bucks, Good
Color: Black transparent
I read the reviews thoroughly before purchasing this horn. I have played for 40 years. I wanted something I didn’t need to worry about that I could practice scales on and take with me on a trip and not worry about it. it’s nice that they give you two different size mouthpieces. I have an absolutely beautiful horn that I keep close to home and for gigs. But there have been many times I wished I had something less valuable I could keep in the car so when I had the feeling I could pop it out wherever I was and noodle and practice. They call it a pro horn, but it’s not really. It would be great for a young trumpet player before you invest in a good instrument and before they know whether or not they are going to keep playing past middle school or even high school. It would also be a good marching band instrument for people who live where it’s cold outside. A brass trumpet in a marching band in Minnesota would cause you lots of problems and it wouldn’t be good for the instrument. But you could break this one out in Antarctica and it would be just fine… And with the plastic mouthpiece you wouldn’t freeze your mouth to the instrument. I do bring my good mouthpiece with me because I can keep that in my pocket. It’s worth three times as much as this trumpet, but really good tone. It does fog up with hot moist air, so I’m glad I got the black version, which I recommend to you. The action on the valves is surprisingly good. Very smooth. Someone commented on the shape of the bell which is different than most trumpets and gives you a mellower tone, but I like that. Someone also complained about the gig bag, but it’s actually pretty standard for trumpet players who travel a lot. The plastic material is surprisingly tough and the tuning valves are easy to use. You may need to take them out and reposition them when you first get your trumpet to make sure they are in the right place. It’s a feel thing getting them to click in the right place and a beginning trumpet player might not know what to do. I’m giving this four stars because I think it is good value for what you get. Trying to compare this to a $2000 trumpet doesn’t make sense. It’s like trying to compare a fancy restaurant to a good burger place. if you are a beginner this might be a good place to start and once you can play scales and achieve good tone, you might want to go to a music store and see what it feels like to play a metal trumpet and see if you’re ready for an upgrade, but even after that I don’t think you would give this one up. It’s pretty cool. And I will tell you this, if they had more colors I might get a collection. Blue would be nice. Also, a deep red. ... show more

  • Way better than I thought! An accident practice trumpet
Color: White transparent
I’ve played or bought most of the competition, but this is the best. Even its plastic mouthpieces are good a don’t cause tone instability, and the valves are surprisingly functional. Very pleasant surprise worth more than what I paid,

  • See your 'spit' inside the horn. Literally came apart at the joints trying to get it out!
Color: White transparent
** Updated 8/22 ** My experience: 40+ yr pro player performing exclusively on plastic trumpets for last few years. I was excited to get this horn due to the very unique clear plastic material. It's the coolest horn visually I've ever owned. The valves performed beyond expectations after a thorough cleaning and application of a high quality synthetic valve oil. But, I immediately discovered that all the normal condensation you blow out the spit valve fogs up and beads into droplets inside the horn. It's all visible through the formerly clear plastic. I don't know about you, but I really don't want to see my 'spit' inside the horn. So much for the cool look. In an attempt to clear that condensation through the spit valves, I shook the horn downwards, which broke all of the bracing that held the bell and bow to the the rest of the horn. I was surprised at how little force it took to break these braces. I suppose a little super glue would have fixed it right up. However, having spent $126 on a piece of plastic I didn't think that was reasonable. I promptly returned it. Other than that, it played well. Just be aware of the more gradual bell flare of this trumpet. It's gradual, like that a a flugelhorn, which leads to a slightly more mellow sound in my opinion. That's fine for the type of playing I do -- jazz in small clubs. But it's not great for brightness and projection in the upper range. Just an FYI. It's a decent horn, a very unique look, and one that plays well and sounds good. Just keep in mind that you (and your audience) will see all that condensation inside -- for better for worse. ... show more

  • For a Lexan ABS horn it's really good!
Color: White transparent
OK I am an experienced alto saxophonist - and new to brass, but I have a metal trumpet for comparison and this Pampet Lexan horn is excellent. The valves are extremely precise and smooth - no slop whatsoever and it makes a nice brassy sound - the build quality is good too for the rest of the instrument. It's very light of course and the gig bag is a joke.. it IS a bag and it's not padded at all. Lexan horns are more fragile so Pamper is just cutting costs. I also tried a Troba Flugalhorn which in comparison to the Pampet trumpet feels like a toy. It's NOT a Bach Strad in sound quality but it won't be for $160. I recommend this horn with few reservations. It does not accept a Harmon wah mute though due to the bell design. I use the stock 3c mouthpiece which is plastic but works for me - I can hit the F below Trumpet top C and I am a long way from developing my lip properly. Added two weeks later.. I tried a 7c metal mouthpiece with the Pampet and the results are stunning. I'm practicing daily and can reach top C now (most of the time..!!!) I really like the sound of this horn - it's quite mellow if you control how much volume you ask for - played softy it is delightful! ... show more

  • I would not call it professional
Color: White transparent
Good product for young beginners in band. And that's it. Not sure why they put professional in the title.

  • Well made
Color: White transparent
The fit and finish is one of the better examples out there for polymer trumpets. Especially the valves (which are all interchangeable). The included mouthpieces are actually well designed and feel good. Solid choice for a youngster or a spare horn. I play it in the pool 😀

  • Cool toy but mine has a horrible sound
Color: Black transparent
Mine sounds like it has a leak in it or like the valves are blocking air. Sounds really bad. I really wanted it to sound half decent and I would’ve been happy but the fact that it sounds like that I’m pretty disappointed. I have it two stars because it looks cool and it was only 100bucks. Sadly I’m probably not going to use it because of the sound quality. Doesn’t sound anything like the video of the guy playing it. I’ve been playing trumpet for 26 years and can pretty much make any horn sound decent but this is beyond me. Really wanted to give a good review. ... show more
