  • Highly recommended
Color: Silver Style: Trumpet
I was a music major 50 years ago and decided to start playing again. So I bought a Mendini By Cecilio. It was cheap and good enough to learn on. But the valves started getting worse and worse, and I could tell the sound wasn't so good. So I found this one on sale for less than $400. It's as different as night and day. I can hit notes that I thought were out of range. The valves are so smooth it took me a while to get used to them. The third valve slide actually worked right out of the box, and notes using the third valve sound better than the Mendini even without using the slide. The intonation is superb. You can feel it resonate through your hands. You can go from a low register and reach up and grab high notes easily. At times the notes are smooth as a tenor sax. I had wondered why my old horn sounded so bad compared to anyone elses. I thought it must be me. It wasn't. The Mendini got me to a higher level, but compared to the Jean Paul it's just a toy. I've always wanted a Yamaha, or maybe a Bach, but I don't think either would be much better than this Jean Paul. And I still feel the same two weeks later. ... show more

  • Amazing instrument for the price
Color: Brass Style: Trumpet
I purchased this Trumpet for my son who was starting his journey into music at the start of the school year. We haven't completed a full semester yet. But already I can tell you everyone that's seen this horn has been surprised. It's built well, handily withstood the abuse of an elementary student. There are no points on the horn that feel week or soft. It sounds great. And while I'm not qualified to rate this instrument on a professional scale, the teachers involved with my son's education all have nothing but good things to say as well. All for a price that was about the same as a used horn elsewhere. My wife is involved in the local Band Booster, she's been recommending Jean Paul instruments to any parents she can reach as a result. I've had a long personal conversation with the individual that handles warranties. And I'm happy to report even the business practices internally are solid. Support this small business folks, this is the real deal. A good family providing good instruments for a good price. *Original Review: October 6, 2018 *Updated Review: January 13, 2021 This trumpet still looks brand new, still functions brand new, and it's been beaten up by my son for 2 years and 4 months. This is a perfect student horn! ... show more

  • Good brass instrument for the money..reputable brand!!
Color: Silver Style: Trumpet
This is the 2nd replacement trumpet. When I received the 1st. one it didn’t come as advertised..It was originally advertised as coming with a pair of white handling gloves and straps that attach to the carry case..unfortunately not included! To make matters worse the included bottle of valve oil was already opened and half empty..leading me to believe that this trumpet was already used..not new!! Sadly upon receiving the replacement trumpet It came the same way!! I decided to return for full refund!! Since then I have ordered from the manufacturer directly and I’m very pleased with the service and especially their products! They specifically stated they have no control in how Amazon or 3rd party sellers advertise and monitor their products. Amazon is great ..the replacements / refunds are the best!!! I gave the 4 star rating because the trumpet itself is a very good product. It’s a shame that it appears.. no one is monitoring the reasons why the product is returned in the 1st. place!!! ... show more

  • Jean Paul trumpet a good value
Color: Brass Style: Trumpet
I’ve been playing this trumpet for about 5 months now. I have enjoyed the instrument—it looks and sounds good. The pistons operate well with minimal oiling. Good price, too. The only complaint is that one of the piston buttons fell off when it was two weeks old. I reattached it with super glue and it has stayed on since then. Update: After a year, I still enjoy this instrument. It does have the occasional problem of Chinese instruments—if it sits for a couple of weeks, a valve might be stick. But with some oil, it’s good to go. I bought the Jean Paul TR-860 professional trumpet when it first came out. It’s a more beautiful instrument with better sound and playability. And at just under $700, a good buy. Having said that, I still play the 430 when I’m on the road. I have recommended the 430 to a Junior High Band Director friend for his students. He is now seeing how the instrument ‘survives’ in the hands of kids that age. ... show more

  • For he Money a Really Nice Trumpet
Color: Silver Style: Trumpet
I just received my trumpet. I had not played trumpet in decades but my son and granddaughter play. I was spurred on to re-learn so that we could record a 3 generation set of music as a legacy. First, the trumpet was well packaged and arrived as advertised and in short order. The fit and finish were excellent in my opinion but the most important item was a nice bright sound. For me playing this trumpet was similar to riding a bike, you don’t forget. So very pleased with the sound, the case it came in , the overall quality finish, and the price. Well worth the money! ... show more

  • Great instrument
Color: Brass Style: Trumpet
My husband played trumpet in his HS band - 60 years ago - until he was kicked out for playing "Hold That Tiger". But he always loved the horn. We play music, although in the basement these days, so he wanted to play trumpet to "enhance" our sound. The coronet he bought at a pawn shop just wasn't cutting it anymore. Our drummer & I had begun to hide the horn so he couldn't play. We did our research & Jean Paul horns kept popping up as a good value so he decided this is the horn to make him sound "infinitely better." To my amazement & to our four cats chagrin, it does. He is able to hit notes he could never do with the old, pawn shop horn. This horn has a bright, crisp sound. The valves did stick a bit but could have just been the newness. Customer support was awesome in telling us how to remedy this. Whether you are a beginner, professional or an adult who wants to start playing again, this is a wonderful horn & great value. ... show more
