    • For the money, way better than an entry-level trumpet.
I own trumpets from all price ranges and build qualities. However, I usually avoid horns made in China simply because most of them have terrible harmonic resonance at certain pitches, and some of the machined threads on valve caps and other fittings are not as precision as a high-end professional trumpet. Even though an entry-level trumpet and high-end trumpet look similar in a side-by-side comparison, it's rather easy to determine the differences when comparing their respective playability, valve response, tone, and so forth. With that said, this trumpet is probably as close to one of my professional grade trumpets that I've ever seen. I'm quite impressed with it so far. Not only is this trumpet aesthetically beautiful, it sounds amazing. In my opinion, the tolerances on the slides and valve cap threads are as precise as my professional-grade handmade German trumpet. The notes are well centered on all pitches up and down the scale. I have no problem recommending this trumpet to an advanced player. The valve springs are a little stiff, but I'm still breaking it in. I'll give it some time to see if the valves loosen up a little. However, the stiffer valves wasn't a deal breaker for me.     • Decent Horn...for the price
This horn plays well. It has a nice sound. I've read comments that it has a mellow sound. But from my perspective, it has a surprisingly bright character. I haven't played regularly for over 6 months, but I can tell this horn is a winner. Buyers have complained that the valve action is suspect, but I think proper lubrication and regular use may loosen the springs for quicker valve response. If that doesn't work, I will change out the springs. I believe, that when I get back my regular chops, I will shoot fire from this horn! The horn is attractive. It has bronze and silver contrasts that stand out. The materials seem to be of decent quality. The instrument has a nice weight. There are some machine striations noticeable on the instrument's inner structure when the tubing is removed, but it doesn't matter too much because no one can see them unless the tubing is removed. So there are some minor imperfections, but it doesn't affect the horn's performance. For the price, it's a good buy. ... show more

This was purchased as a graduation gift. This "heavy duty" horn sounds great. It is very pleasing to the ear. The tone not ear piercing, and I find that it is more mellow that most other trumpets. I believe we should provide many years of enjoyment. I have no regrets with this purchase.

    • A Beautiful Quality Trumpet
This is a striking looking trumpet. It plays very well. The sound is less brassy than most horns ( rather mellow ), but like all trumpets the sound is very mouthpiece dependent. The case is elegant. Over-all, quite a bargain.

So far the trumpet has served me well. I did have some valve sticking but it was remedied with cleaning and valve oil. The trumpet looks good and sounds good. It's on par with my Yamaha YTR-4335. I had a ton of valve problems with the Yamaha. So far so good with the Singers Day. Only time will tell if I'll be completely satisfied. ... show more
