Description

YTR-2330 Standard Bb Trumpet Bb Trumpet Silver. The Yamaha YTR-2330 is the latest version of Yamaha's main student trumpet, an instrument that has assisted in the development of thousands of trumpeters all over the world. Two-piece bell of the YTR-2330 is crafted using state-of-the-art production methods, delivering a consistent, vibrant tone. The balanced weight and addition of an adjustable third valve trigger allows for a natural hand position and promotes proper playing technique, while the water key on the third valve slide adds to the ease of use and over-all playability of the instrument. The newly redesigned, durable yet light two-piece bell is made of yellow brass for optimal playability and to promote good technique and endurance. Highly durable monel alloy pistons as well as newly designed piston buttons and bottom caps help lengthen the life of the instrument while also maximizing sound quality. The 2nd and main tuning slides are produced using the same method as high-end Yamaha models, which provides stability, a more refined tonal color and added durability.

  • Nice quality
I'm not an expert, but I did research trumpets quite a bit before deciding on this one. It seems very nice. Looks beautiful and sounds like it will sound amazing once the user gets a little better (haha). It has more features than a basic beginner trumpet that should work for an intermediate player so I'm not planning to ever need to upgrade. Shipping was amazingly fast, from Korea to my local fedex in 48 hrs, although then it took 3 more days before fedex got it the rest of the way to my door, but still it arrived toward the beginning of the delivery estimate. It was beyond securely packaged....took me more than 5 minutes to get it out of the box! One thing that is sort of weird...the case only zips on 2 sides so it doesn't fully open. But I'm happy with my decision. It is a quality instrument for a good price (3 figures). ... show more

  • Quality product, nice case and accesories
Daughter loves it and it does sound better than her intro level trumpet.

  • Case should be better quality
Good, the shipment was securely packaged & arrived sooner than promised, but having a soft case for something over $900 after taxes, I was a little disappointed. The mouthpiece leaves a little to be desired but the horn is great, sounds good, looks great, overall very happy but will need to get a better case for it. ... show more

  • Why is this Yamaha so cheap
I bought this trumpet from this seller. I played trumpet through high school many years ago and wanted to play again. I don't think I'm a typical buyer, though it's been a good trumpet for me. I think the instrument is targeted at true beginners and parents willing to pay for a brand new, high-end quality, entry level horn. It's an amazing price for this particular instrument, and, for Amazon, this instrument only. The best online sellers in the US are charging several hundred dollars more. Why? IMO, this is a gray market piece, made in China for Yamaha, but exported by a third party without the usual agreements with sellers and Yamaha USA. Every other Yamaha trumpet is made in Japan except this YT-2330. Mine didn't come with Yamaha USA paperwork in the box. I think that would mean Yamaha USA doesn't guarantee the product, and should you need anything, you might be working with a company in China. I doubt you'll need any warranty work to fix factory defects. This seems to be the real deal, a quality Yamaha product. The YT-2330 is always ranked in the top three beginner trumpets. Mine came with a care kit containing Yamaha slide and valve products and a Yamaha 11B4 mouthpiece. Most teachers and band directors recommend a 7C mouthpiece for beginners. A new Bach 7C costs $60 but a clone could be purchased for $15 easily, or a Bach 7C on Ebay. I don't think one size fits all for any purpose, lips not an exception, and the 11B4 is a little smaller with more rounded edges on the cup. It's Yamaha's take on a beginner's mouthpiece and they have been making world class trumpets for a long time. See what the band director says before purchasing another. The "case" was a nice third party soft well-padded "gig bag" with a shoulder strap. There might be more secure options for a 4th grader, either a backpack type, or a hard case. The valves worked very well after a couple of months of medium use. I stretched the valve springs a little which improved the action a lot without making them too much harder to depress. Replacement springs are cheap too. The thing with 4th grade beginners, you want a horn that's easy for young bodies to play. This is designed by Yamaha for them. Even a gifted beginner won't be able to produce a better sound with a costlier instrument for a few years anyway, and these trumpets sound good. I write this review with mixed feelings. I believe local music shops need support and will come close to Amazon prices for most products, and they can give advice in person. Some outstanding online music retailers in the US provide amazing service and prices competitive with Amazon on most products worth buying. Please buy locally or from WWBW, Sweetwater, Austin Custom Brass and other fine stores when possible. Most of them are Amazon sellers and you can cut out the middleman and get the same price on many products. The companies I mentioned give concierge-level service. Spend a little money there, and a representative will cold call you asking if you have any questions or requests they can accommodate. But they can't match the price for this particular gray market trumpet. ... show more

  • Very good horn
This trumpet is clearly a step up from super inexpensive trumpets and is certainly good enough for beginner to intermediate players. I’ve owned a Bach Strad in the past and a cheap $99 horn. This Yamaha is closer to the Strad than the cheap one. Valves are nice, slides work perfectly, fit and finish is perfect, the sound is very good, and intonation is excellent. If you’re looking for a very good horn at a fair price then consider this model. ... show more
