  • Excellent slicer - essential for serious food dehydratingb
Size: Set of 1
p.s. WATCH VivianRogers6623 YouTube channel on how to put together the “OXO V Mandoline Slicer” - she makes it clear. EDIT: Great slicer -5 stars for that. Deserves 1?0 stars The instruction manual deserves 1 star. Preferably 0 stats. I bought the .4 blade slicer. The pictures are not of that model. Looking for the same square hole in your slicer’s frame? Doesn’t exist. Very frustrating to figure out how to reassemble the (d*mn’) thing after it falls in the floor. Or how to put it back tigether after washing because tgere is a super sharp blade involved! One part is said by the manual to slide in vertically. But it only fits if slid in horizontally. You get the picture . I am a little nervous about attempting to change blades until I have mastered assembling it. Disassembly, however, is a piece of cake! This is the best mandolin slicer I’ve ever had. And I’m coming to realise that it is absolutely the best one for the job when it comes to slicing food to be dehydrated. The sharpness of a mandolin slicers blades is pretty critical. These are as sharp as they get! The slicer comes fully assembled in its box. The instruction booklet wasn’t so great. It was pretty disappointed with it when I had to figure out how to put the parts back together when deci her fell on the floor unexpectedly and its removable parts flew off. If I have good pictures, I can put things together in a snap. These graphics are printed clearly, but they are not instructive enough when the text is so brief. However, if when sits down, it looks at things for a while you “get it.” •••Warning••• Yeah, the instructions say that the blades are very sharp. They say not to touch them. OK. I worked with sharp leather knives for years, Jerry rarely ever cutting myself. I never badly. As the instruction booklet does not tell you how to clean the blade other than that it’s dishwasher safe, and I did not intend to put it in dishwasher, I was very carefully running a dish cloth with soapy water over it. Bad idea! I will not touch that blade again. I’ve got a very large bandage on the end of my finger and the finger is very insulted. Loads of blood. I put red pepper on it which stings. Either red or black pepper is a pretty good coagulant. The moral of the story is that I discovered from the instructions how to remove the blade in its plastic frame. The essential thing to know is how to remove the frame with its blade, and to only touch the plastic framework. And once you know to do that, you’ll never get cut! Well, and using a Kevlar glove is pretty important too. Yeah, I know, for most people it’s another expenditure. But I am now using the Kevlar glove on my right hand when I’m slicing things. And it WILL prevent spilled blood, even for the most careful folks. A slicer should be very sharp and it should last a long time, in my humble opinion. I think this will live up to both of those expectations. However, in order to do so, one needs to develop new hands to keep one’s fingers from getting cut on the blade. ... show more

  • Great product. One of those items that you want to have 2 of just for the heck of it!
Size: Set of 1
Extremely easy to use and does everything I needed it to do. I even sliced a Turkey thigh on this slicer on the second setting and they came out perfect for stuffing in a Burrito or even for a sandwich. Easy to clean and store until needed.

  • Oxo mandolin a good choice
Size: Set of 1
Easy to use and clean. I enjoy getting nice even slices much better than I usually get slicing with a chefs knife. I use the thickest slice setting and it seem that some might prefer wider adjustment options, but not a problem for me. I recommend this item.

  • OXO Mandoline Slicer
Size: Set of 1
I got this Mandoline because I'm working outside of the USA, in the Middle-East. And to buy something like French-Fries here can get a little pricey. So I have been buying things like this OXO Mandoline. I was a little cautious about buying something that sounded like a gimmick, it slices it dices, Ron-co! I have had it now for about a month; I have only made French-Fries with it but it has worked beautifully. You do have to watch out for the Blades, they are very SHARP! They say it's easy to clean, Yes, but with those very SHARP blades you have to be very careful. So watch it. I had a little trouble finding everything and setting it up. But I sat down with it in my lap, the manual in hand and my Tomato Juice (No Beer in the Kuwait) and played with it for a while; now No Problem! Everything fits very tight, and sometimes you have to push it, but watch it those Blades are VERY SHARP! You want everything to be tight, you don't want something to come loose with those VERY SHARP blade so close to your hand. I have done allot of French-Fries. I have run a large number of potatoes through it. I do wish it had one more thickness setting. You don't want to be a Wimp when you use it. Don't run through it slowly you will end up hanging up and have to push it through, do it quickly, smoothly with your hand holding the Pusher handle firmly and let the V blade do the rest. Smooth as glass, sharp blades! And always use that Pusher handle those blades are VERY SHARP! I will say this that if this one breaks, I will not hesitate to get another one. Next week Crinkle Fries! ... show more

  • Great mandoline with an inexcusably weak food pusher
Size: Set of 1
Let's be clear about one thing: This mandoline ITSELF is great. It works well, has multiple blades that all store underneath it, cuts easily and without much effort, produces very thin slices. Unlike diagonal blade mandolines, it doesn't try to push the food to one side as you cut. It comes with a FAIRLY well thought out pusher that protects your hand well. Unfortunately, the pusher is a weak point. Its pressure plate is thin, un-reinforced, and developed a web of small cracks after only about half a dozen uses. You also can't get replacement parts except by warrantying THE WHOLE THING ... so, bad from a sustainability viewpoint. I THINK I've devised a repair for mine, but I have a lot of tools and materials and I know how to use them. My repair plan probably isn't something just anyone can do. I don't know for sure whether it will work; the glue on the new backing plate I made is curing right now. FIX THIS PUSHER, OXO! It is a disappointing weakness in an otherwise very good tool. That pressure plate should NEVER have been a single, thin sheet of un-reinforced, unsupported brittle plastic. You should have known what would happen. This has the look of an originally metal part that someone switched to plastic to save cost, without a single thought to whether the mechanical properties of the plastic were adequate for that design. That and the absence of any replacement parts except by warrantying the entire tool are MAJOR disappointments that cost two stars off this rating. ... show more
