When I bought this, I didn't think I would use it as much as I would. Boy was I wrong. This thing is amazing. I use it literally every time I make salads, for things like carrot, cucumber, celely, basically any fresh vegetable I want to put on my salad. Not only is it incredibly sharp, it's also so easy to clean. I literally just rinse it in hot water, maybe a little soap, and done. I let it air-dry, and it takes me a minute, tops, to clean. That alone is wonderful. Being able to adjust the thickness is such a game changer that I, as a cook for 10+ years, didn't think would be so incredible. If I want razor thin carrot slices then thicker cuts of cucumber, it can do that! I love this thing so dang much. Oh, last thing. If you use this on a regular basis, get a cut glove. It's so nice to not have to worry I'm going to cut my hand badly just cause I want to get every last bit of vegetable thinly sliced. Being able to grip the vegetable with my hands gives me so much more control when slicing, which is something the guard doesn't. Speaking of cut guards. I personally don't like the guards every mandolin comes with. I find them both clunky and bulky, and you still leave behind 1-2 inches of food product, thus wasting whatever you're slicing for little reason.

I love this Mandolin. I have one from Pampered Chef that I use all the time but over the years I misplaced the attachments. I love that my new one from Gramercy has even more. Just make sure to use the food holder to protect your fingers. My husband cut himself because he didn't use it.

Feet sit solidly on counter. The adjustable blade and auxiliary julienne cutters rotate easily into place, requiring no swapping in and out of extra attachments. Relatively easy to disassemble for cleaning, though the fitting of the cylinder is a little fussy to get back in place correctly. It stores flat and compactly. The safety gloves are a nice addition, though they don't take the place of exercising extreme caution if you are inexperienced with mandolins. Although solidly constructed, it doesn't quite match the quality of my fully professional French unit (which I almost never use because of the difficulties of set-up and re-storage in its suitcase-like storage box.) At very thin settings there is an obvious mis-alignment of the planes of the blade and the sliding platform, giving slices that have a wedge profile in their thicknesses. With thicker slices this difference becomes irrelevant. Nice unit overall.

Item arrived on time and it is a quality product. no regrets on this purchase at all. I looked at everything for sale and chose this based on my needs-have arthritis in both hands and thumbs. wrists are not flexible this allows a back and forth movement instead of the up-and-down, using the whole hand that the others for sale on Amazon involve with this item, of course using my wrist brace I can just hold it with the palm on my hand in the first four fingers and go back-and-forth thumbs don't have to even enter into it. I am looking forward to using this tonight. We're going to make scallop potatoes.

WARNING BLADE IS SHARP!!! There is a knob that you turn to pick how thick you want it to cut. This knob is not real clear on where to set it for the thickness that you want. I set the knob to one setting and wanted to see how thick it was cutting. I was only going to slice a few times on my potato (was making homemade potato chips) to see how thick it was cutting. I didn't use the gloves nor the food holder that comes with this device and cut my finger off. PLEASE USE PROPER SAFETY EQUIPMENT BEFORE SLICING, I sliced my finger off and had to rush the hospital. I am afraid to use this device again and will be throwing it away.
