This is the second mandoline I have had. My first one had a blade that went straight across, not at an angle and the blade didn't seem very sharp. This one is so much nicer, vegetable cut with ease. It is sturdy and doesn't slide when I use it. It was easy to clean by hand, but now I put it in the dishwasher instead. When I washed it by hand, I used a dish towel to dry if off. Warning: a dish towel does not prevent the blade from slicing you finger. I got a deep gash that took a few weeks to fully heal. Pros: The blade is very sharp, it cuts through vegetables with ease Cons: The blade is very sharp, it cuts through fingers with ease :) - be careful, not just when slicing, but also when handling it afterwards. Very nice tool. Easy to clean. The gloves are way too small for a man's hand. And the Handgard is too wide. It rides on the side rails, so you can't get the last few thin slices out of the food.
