So, for some reason, nobody else in the world who has bought this used it for rice, or could say how much rice of what type they were able to fit into this exact container. I know they make dispensers EXACTLY for rice, but none of them had the look I wanted in my kitchen. In my opinion the OXO aesthetic is top tier for the kitchen. So, I had my heart set on the largest container they make, this one, for my 10 pound bag of long grain white jasmine rice. This is the "OXO Good Grips Pet POP Container – 6.0 Qt/5.7 L with Half Scoop" The container is perfect. It literally fits exactly 10 pounds of my rice, as I buy it in 10 pound units. There's just under an inch of space remaining between the top of the rice and the bottom of the container's lid. I spent an hour trying to translate the density and weight of "dog food and cat food" into rice. Not easy, and I really wasn't sure if my math was correct. But it turns out converting the liters into cups, volume wise, DOES actually check out when calculating the volume of rice. Not the pet food. As for the container itself besides size, it arrived perfectly, crystal clear, and it does have a plastic smell initially when you open it. But I rinsed mine with dish soap for a few minutes, dried it, and it was pristine. My lid's button does have a small scuff on it, but unless you have it in the perfect light and know where it is, it's not visible. I won't dock a point for it. Overall I'd say there are other containers that do something similar for significantly cheaper, but I saw this one and knew I had to have it. This one is definitely expensive. As others have said, the lid is not strong enough to hold up the entire container when it is full, so DO NOT try to carry the container by the lid. The small scoop also slots very firmly into the underside of the lid (inside the container) and is a helpful addition. To wrap things up, if you have a similar predicament where you either must have this container, or need to store 10 pounds of rice (long grain in my case), this is perfect and I recommend buying it. ... show more

My home suffered an infestation of Indian meal pantry moths from a tainted bag of dog food last year. I have had to toss many dry pantry goods away since then, and the manufacturer reimbursed me for the dog food. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy! I resorted to using these containers for all my dry goods that have been opened. OXO containers are absolutely the BEST! The lids can be twisted apart to thoroughly clean them, and dog kibble or dog treats stay nice and fresh. These containers were the perfect size for my little chihuahua’s kibble and treats. I use it for flour. It fits a 5lb bag from the store perfectly. Easy and fast to open and close, and I love that little scooper that comes with it. Plastic is good quality but I dont think the suction on the lid is very strong. It keeps bugs out but I feel it comes off easily when I pull on it. Gave it 4 stars as I fear the lid will just pop off if I drop it or something so I'm careful when I handle the container. ... show more

I use this alongside my simplehuman 35L Pet Food Storage Container to hold the Costco sized dog food bag. In order to keep food fresh, I scoop out enough to fill this OXO Container every once in awhile so that I am not constantly opening the simplehuman container. I already have and love other OXO Containers (as you can see in the photo), so this was a no brainer to get. The square shape makes it wide enough to be able to use this half scoop that comes with it or the larger dog scoop I already had.
