Description

Making gravy has never been easier with the OXO Good Grips Fat Separator. Simply place the stopper in the spout and when you pour pan drippings into the fat separator, the strainer will separate unwanted bits and the fat will rise to the top. Remove the stopper and pour, and the flavorful cooking liquid will come out first, allowing you to leave the fat behind. The measurement markings make following recipes simple, and the splatter shield helps prevent splashing while you pour. Idk how I made it to 43 without figuring this one out, but here we are. Thank you, cooking shows. I love this gadget! Way better than trying to ladle out the fat from the top. Time saver. Made for perfect dripping gravy from our turkey. Loaded up the base of the roasting pan with veggies, bouillon, fresh herbs, lemon rinds and water, and cooked the turkey on a rack nestled into the pan (breast side down). The bird steamed itself tender. But then the gravy!! I loaded up all the drippings and what was left of the veggies, squished them down in the upper part (sort of a juicing if you will), let it rest for 10 mins to separate while I toasted up some butter and flour, and then poured the drippings into the pan, stopping short when I got to the oil. The gravy didn’t need any other seasoning. It was perfect as it was and delicious! Bonus, the dogs got a special fat treat on their food for the next few evenings. I opted for this model over the spout on bottom version, because I trust gravity and time will always wreak their havoc. I was worried the seal on bottom variety would fail eventually and it would be a pain to clean. With this model I was worried I’d get too much grease still in the pour, but it was clear when to stop pouring, and it was a breeze to clean. Bonus, I have an extra measuring cup between dripping uses. (I bought the 4 cup version.) This really does a fantastic job at separating your grease from the liquids. I bought this one after cracking my other model by pouring too hot of liquid in it. Lesson learned. Sturdy handle, esp. where it connects, b/c it's in two spots. Easy to clean in dishwasher. Works perfectly. Heavy-duty plastic is superior to glass for this item b/c I imagine glass could break with thermal shock if you pour near-boiling liquid into a glass container that's room temperature. Avoid the kind of fat separator that drips through the center bottom; those don't work b/c the hole gets plugged with debris. This Oxo one is what you need. ... show more

This works like a charm to separate the fat. I made homemade chicken broth and this separated the fat out better than cheesecloth. There was no fat at the top after a night in the refrigerator either. Highly recommend.

I have wanted one of these for a long time and finally bought it. I used it for Thanksgiving and really appreciated having the far separator. I got the larger 4 cup size and I filled to almost the top. You can use for lesser amounts. I bought the Oxo Good Grips as I am a fan of their quality.
