I had issues installing this wireless keypad. Apparently, the instructions for this model has changed as there is conflicting information on line with a completely different method of programing. This created a problem for the support person and me as we tried various ways of getting the unit programed to function with my 20-year old Legacy 696CD/B motor unit. Follow the directions with the wireless keypad but ALSO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS OF YOUR OPENER. We discovered that the keypad has to be at least 5 feet or more AWAY from the opener's antenna or it creates errors (the source of my difficulty) in our Legacy 696CD. Here I was, standing on a ladder with the keypad right next to the opener. No wonder... Once I understood the distance issue was causing the problem, programming was a slam-dunk...following the directions that are in the box with the keypad, NOT conflicting on-line directions for this model. This unit is wonderful! The back-lighting of the keypad makes use after dark a snap. Additional thoughts and observations after several months of use: I saw a review by someone claiming the batteries only last a month. We have not had that issue. No doubt that person's unit has a problem. For us, this has really been a dependable device. We wish now that we had done this years ago. The convenience of being able to access the garage without having to go through the house is worth the price of this very dependable keypad remote. I especially like the back lighting. ... show more

    • GOT LUCKY WITH SOME ASSISTANCE!!!
Lucky for me the 800 number for Overhead Doors worked and there was a very nice lady on the other end with lots of knowledge about this unit. I have a OCG710 Python door opener and after about 5 attempts to program I called the 800 number. The lady walked me through the steps, just as I had done, and nothing worked. She told me that in the past the batteries in these units were old and that might be the problem. I put new batteries in and much to my surprise, the unit started to work. I would have never thought of this because the batteries had that little paper in them to keep them from running and they were not your typical generic batteries, they were Energizer batteries. I put in some Duracell's and again, the unit works. A couple of minor issues: 1. if you open the door and then immediately push any button the door will close. 2. You have to wait at least a minute or so before the unit will shut down and then you need to put in your pin, press the up/down button and the door will close. 3. The supplier could not tell me if this unit was compatible with my Overhead Door but did get back to me promptly and with some helpful information about who to contact with my question. I don't like how the unit is attached to the garage - hard to get it solid because the first screw goes in and you hang the unit on it and then put the other screw in. Unless the first screw is "exactly" at the perfect depth the unit will wobble a little so it's a crap shoot. All in all, the supplier was very good and the Overhead Door 800 number folks - GREAT!!! ... show more

This worked flawlessly with my older Overhead Legacy 696 CD/B garage door opener. I simply followed the directions on the keypad device with zero connectivity issues. My older model took a 9V battery which left the cords to the connector inside vulnerable to damage and rot over time, which was why I had to replace it. I like that this is a simple two AAA situation, they problem won’t happen again. The backlighting is nice as well because it gives responsiveness to keystrokes. ... show more
