This fan has multiple applications. I use it as an air cleaner with a large canister filter similar to Austin Air HM400. I find that it works better than any residential air cleaner on the market. I own an Austin Air and I am able to compare each unit. The Austin uses a centrifugal fan with a brushless motor with 3 speeds. The different speeds are built into the copper windings in the fan and is the same motor you would find in an attic fan. This is a mixed flow fan-it is an axial fan; however, it has a centrifugal output giving it the power/pressure to pull and push air whereas an regular axial fan has no power under resistance, the inline fan does not lose pressure under resistance like pulling air through a filter. It’s also a brushless motor but significantly smaller than a centrifugal motor (with a fan at comparable CFM), using less energy. This bundle is a great deal with the duct and carbon filter. Be sure to vacuum the filter inside and out and wipe it down so you don’t blow charcoal dust everywhere. ... show more

This fan is not 230cfm. This is terrible value for the price. It does not go fast, it moves air very slow. It is very noisy, and vibrates a lot. It is not moving air fast enough to cool, leaving my tent far too warm. It was difficult to install with the wrong parts because it was supposed to come with a light blocking tube. The fan is small in size, and not enough to move the air. Overall the package was not what I ordered, I may have to return it because it is not 230 CFM but instead 195cfm, and the duct is not blacked out. ... show more

Fan works ok it runs without issues and is pretty quite. Not super powerful but will move a bit of air around. Speed control is not super good. Like others have said it doesn't do lower speeds very well as far as toggling. If you need a basic cheap fan and do not need super accurate speed control this is a ok buy for the price. ... show more

You can't beat this price for so much. It's relatively quiet, very easy to set up. And the app is pretty simple and intuitive. Only thing missing was duct tape which you will need to connect the coal filter to the motor (it's a loose pretty loose fit and a clamp won't help) digital display is bright and clear (see photos). Attic started at 104 dropped to 98 in 20 minutes, now down to 80 (evening), but hoping it will stay lower for longer with the new vent setup. ... show more
