Decent, inexpensive waffle make with removable plates

Like others had mentioned in their reviews, I find that the top plate does not get as hot as the bottom. This leads to uneven waffles, but I find they still cook all the way. The resulting waffle is decent, but by no means is it top quality. If you're looking for the perfect waffle, this just won't cut it. It is saved by the removable plates, which are rare at this price point. This makes clean-up much easier, and makes me much more willing to make waffles now. If you aren't picky about how done your waffles are and want an easy to clean machine, this is a good choice. You also get a sandwich plate and a grill plate. While the sandwich plate worked okay, it wasn't any easier than a standard grilled cheese and given the temperature issues on the top plate, I wouldn't cook meat with the grill plates.

12 minutes and still not even a done waffle.

If I could do zero stars I would. Got this waffle maker today and tried it out for brinner tonight. To say using this thing was a huge disappointment is an understatement. I left the batter in the waffle maker for over 12 minutes and it barely got to a golden yellow color. If I left batter in one of those spin waffle makers for 12 minutes my house would burn down. Then I noticed it does not seal in the back at the hinge so any and all minor excess spilled all out the back and into the heating cable that connects to the heating element on the top. Cleaning it was horrendous. Too many nooks and crannies for anything to get into. If you want a waffle maker, this is not it. Look elsewhere please, for your sake.

This company came through for me...when I ordered this waffle iron, I did not use it during the original 30 Amazon Return period, so when it did not heat up hot enough to cook a crispy, light waffle, I was so disappointed and emailed the company's customer service desk to request a refund...they said that any refund would have to come from the company where I purchased the item, so I explained that the Amazon window was closed and how did they honor the year warranty that was in the product information...and luckily, they were willing to replace the item and I didn't even have to return it because it did not get hot enough...the new one arrived quickly and I have used it. This one does heat up and makes a good waffle, it takes longer than it should, about 10 minutes to cook a waffle when it should take just 5, but the company was true to their word and made good on the product! Kudos to them and thanks customer support help desk people!!
