I was amazed how quick it heats up. I have made Mac and Cheese and it took about 12 minutes to boil but the pasta cooked quickly. I will put a lid on next time to bring to boil to cut the time. I fried bacon and made an omelette and cooked the bacon between 1 and 2 and it did very well. My last test was saute onions and fry a burger in a cast iron skillet! No problem on either and got a nice sear. As an FYI I got this model because the large burner was 1000 watts and the small one 700. I wanted to make sure I could have the larger one with enough heat to use the cast iron and cook pasta and it certainly did that! I figured if I need the do two burners at one time the smaller would be used to heat a canned veggie or reheat leftovers. ... show more

Okay, so to all my makeup lovers out there hear me out. I have been wanting the Z potter aka a little electric stove top to remove eyeshadow and powders out of the palettes. It’s been sold out and I figured this was the exact same thing and i was right!!!! I put it on the lowest setting to remove eyeshadows that were on cardboard palettes and it came right out! This little stove helped convert our office/apartment into more of a home. It’s lightweight, yet not so easy to inadvertently bump around from where we set it it up. I’d estimate that the Ovente Infrared cooker has between eighty-ninety percent of the output of a fullsize range, at maximum setting. Just enough to keep me out of trouble if I leave a burner on! Control knobs are intuitive and easy to set: “5” is maximum heat, for boiling a kettle, etc. “3” is ideal for most general cooking, including frying eggs or warming up can of soup. 2-1 setting is good for slow cooking or simmering. Ovente construction gets a 4 out of 5 for sturdiness, and as others have mentioned in the reviews, a slight relocation of the control knobs might help when a utensil on the right hand burner overhangs the controls. Easy to clean up after, and I also recommend it for stove-topping out on deck, or in those college dorm rooms where light cooking is permitted, closer to an operating window. ... show more

It heats up quickly works good. One of the knobs for the burner doesn't work right though. It still heats I just have to unplug after I use it to make sure it's off. I didn't feel like going through the hassle of returning and resending over it. I ordered one that had already been opened to save a couple buck so yea... ... show more

    • Bought to replace big clunky rusty hotplate on houseboat.

We bought a houseboat this year and it came with a big 4 burner hotplate that was rusty and heavy and took up all the space in our small galley. This one is perfect it takes up less than half the space and works really well. While it would be nice to have 4 burners I've never really had a need for more than two burners at a time. The price of this one is such a great value. The unit itself is the perfect size for our small galley it doesn't take up alot of space and can be left out on the counter for permanent use but I prefer to put it away when not in use. It fits perfectly for storage ontop of our microwave in it's little cubby. It's the same size length wise and about half the width. The unit is easy to clean & store. Both burners can be used at the same time with medium sized pots/pans. The unit is lightweight making it easy to move around. It cooks food evenly and gets nice and hot. Boils water and cooks meat the same way any stove top ive used does. ... show more

I was living in a hotel for work and needed a stove top and this was a great cheep option I didn't have hotspot in it and really easy to clean could not use a cast iron pan on it though and unfortunately it did not really have a great low heat setting
