All was well for 3-4 uses. Around the 5th use there was a spark, pop and I quickly removed the plug from my power station. The Ovente Car Electric Immersion Heater's plug had fallen apart and a couple of pieces were inside the 12V socket of my 600w Pecron. I picked them out and thankfully, my power station nor the outlet were harmed. They've been working fine ever since. I am grateful because the power station, which I charge primarily via solar, was not cheap. I was reluctant to try one of these immersion heaters of any brand in the first place. I took a chance but I won't be buying another one. I rated it 2 stars because it did work well while it did. Took a few minutes to heat my coffee water. Another customer said he has never bought one of any brand that did not have a problem, and he's been buying/using them for a long time and has bought many. I believe him now. ... show more

    • Still prefer this to all other immersion heaters I have tried.

1.5 months after I receiving and using it, it would stop and start working, then stopped entirely, I opened up the plug section and found that one of the soldered contact came off. It is a very easy fix if you have a soldering gun of any kind. I have never found one of these immersion heaters that is not problematic. I prefer this one only because you can take apart any part for self-repair. That IS a plus, because it is a very simple device. Others (cheap and expensive) are made in such a way that you cannot attempt a self repair. This one has a thicker cord. The plug and cord does not get hot like others. Also the element is made so that you can clean all around it. Others have elements that are curved so tight you cannot clean it and everything needs to be cleaned at some point. If after this little fix it lasts a long time, I will buy this again. Still it should not be so hard to make such a simple device! This item seemed to work well and really got the water hot. I’m not sure if it had a relay in it or what but when it started to get really hot it would shut off. Maybe it was part of it. If it is, I will update my review accordingly. I did notice it started to melt the back of the metal piece slightly with seemed potentially hazardous so not sure what happened there. Not sure I would buy it again due to the shutting off while using it and melting part of it. ... show more

We got this for a road trip to warm our baby’s bottles in hot water. It worked great before it broke. Got the water really hot in about 5 minutes, but after about 5 uses I picked it up and it literally fell apart in my hands. I guess for the price it at least served it’s purpose.
