The fact that it has a "push button" in the center makes it easy for one person to open it. Simple stretch the legs as far as possible, position yourself in the center of the unit, and push up to completely open the legs to their full spread. Then raise each individual leg to the height desired. We bought this canopy to use as shade when we show our classic car. It seemed sturdy and easy to set up when we first received it so we kept it. The first time my husband set it up at a show one of the velcro tabs that holds the cover on came off and made a hole in the fabric.
