Only thing negative would be the anchors to the concrete are really weak, you can just buy different Dyna bolts from home Depot for $20. Everything else was great.

To start off, the pergola comes in 7 different boxes on seven different days, and the only way you are aware of this is if you look it up on whatever shipping company they use. Until you realize this, you have no idea if you have all the parts you need or not, especially since I received the box with the instructions last. Speaking of which.... Instructions are pictures only, which for the most part are fine, but occasionally require some interpretation. Highly reccomend a drill driver with hex head bit, there a LOT of screws, all hex, mostly the same size. Went together over the course of 2 days and about 8 hours with help needed when putting the first two cross beams up. Would go pretty fast with 2 people. Of course since your building this thing in the area of your yard that most closely resembles the surface of the sun, hydration is important. Pieces fit together well, and structurally it feels sound , but it does have some sway to it. Of course I couldn't resist the temptation to hang from it like it was an adult jungle gym, but I don't reccomend it. Once you have it built, lets talk about keeping it there. The lawn stakes this comes with have to be a joke among any engineer who worked on this thing. Treat them as spare parts for your tent. The expanding bolts that they include are similarly undersized for a structure of this sort and are not the type of anchor I woud choose for any surface you would choose to put this thing on. You'll need to make at least one trip to the home despot, or better yet order some more suitable anchors while your here on amazon. With all of that said, this thing does what it's supposed to do, it transformed my southern facing all day sun patio that was virtually unusable into an outdoor oasis. the louvered slats allow for the right mix of shade and airflow and the curtains help for that late day low angle light. MY WISH LIST- I wish this had electrical chases or some accomodations to cleanly add lighting and a fan or two. As it is, if you want to do concealed lighting, you'll have to run waterproof lighting in the gutter system, or use external clips. Similarly, any electrical cords will need to be routed outside the beams. I hope they still make this colorway in a smaller size when I add the hot tub. UPDATE this thing has lived through a michigan winter and still looks and works great. Updated for this season with some led lighting and a couple ceiling fans. We love our patio! This was the best prime day purchase ever.
