  • Started out strong but not as amazing now
Color: 8CH + 3MP 4Cams + 1TB HDD
I've been doing a home security system for 12 or so years now, started with Logitech's platform, upgraded, and then when they stopped making and supporting them, I kept it running until I started to have camera issues. Then I moved to an LAView system, which was adequate and gave me something to use in the interim period. I wanted a bit more though than that offered, I disliked their app and disliked the web access from outside. They also lacked sound. So it was time for an upgrade. I started with an Amcrest system, very expensive cameras and a not expensive NVR, but I had it running for just a few hours before I boxed it up and returned it for a variety of reasons. Then I tried another no name one last week, and had the same results. Boxed and returned within a couple hours. I was worried initially - this NVR's interface looks identical to the other company's that I just returned. But unlike that one, I could actually set the channel names for the OSD and they CHANGED on the screen and persisted - the one I returned, that was actually why I returned it, no matter what I did, those settings where I told it to change the OSD display from CAM1 to, say, Front Yard, never worked. Even the web UI failed. Both the NVR and the web UI showed the change I made in their interfaces, but the cameras never actually did. I played with this last night in my house, was pleased enough with my ability to set and modify things, that today I went to deploy one or two cameras to test. But since I was replacing very similar bullet cams that used the same kind of power adapter, I ended up changing them all since it was so quick - three screws to remove the old, three screws to secure the new, plug into the same plug right there. Every camera came up fine, and with a bit of adjusting, I have my setup going. Field of view is a bit wider than my previous setup, although still not nearly as good as the Logitech cameras were - that was one of their strengths, a huge wide field of view without distortion. But these are about where the more expensive Amcrest cameras were, and more than the LAView ones. The alarm isn't really that loud, so at least if it goes off at night you may not really annoy your neighbors because the volume is enough to let the person who triggered it know they were spotted, but not so loud it's like a car alarm or something. I opted to turn them off myself at least for now. Since I wanted to make sure motion detection was decent first. Picture quality is very crisp and clear, on my 4K TV it looks awesome, and on the iPhone 11X Pro Max it's good as well. Actually, I like one neat feature on the IOS app - when you swipe to go from one camera to the next, they do this really slick "cube" effect where it looks like the camera you are turning away from is on one side of a dice, and the dice rotates, bringing in the new camera view and removing the old. It's something little and not at all required for anything other than aesthetics, but it IS a nice touch. Sound - it's been over a year since I replaced my Logitech system with the LAView, and I forgot how nice it could be to have sound on the systems. But it's a really poor quality microphone on these, so the sounds are nothing at all like the usable sound on the Logitech. Talking works as well, it's hardly great quality, but you can hear and be understood, so the critical function is there and operational if you need. The NVR supports some of the common DDNS services out there and since I was already using NO-IP for the LAView system I simply used the same here, so hopefully that will keep up with any changes. All cameras paired instantly, and if it's night time, and the night vision is on, the LED spotlights are a bit more effective than I had expected. Not ridiculously bright, but it does shock you when they come on out of the blue. I may or may not enable that on the cameras in front, but I'll definitely leave it running on the ones in the back yard where there's less ambient light at night. But one of the cameras seems to have some weird "halo" dead center with night vision, that impairs the function at night. None of the other cameras have it, and it's consistent where it shows up, even if I move the camera's angle, that halo follows the camera, so it's definitely something in the lens. At first I was very happy with motion detection. That was one of the most annoying things with my LAView system - there was NO sensitivity setting that would ignore things like raindrops, snowflakes, grass moving, small animals like a rabbit... So I'd get emails all the time. Often somedays it was just the clouds, and a barely perceptible change in brightness on the grass, that would trigger. So I'd have a few hours of 1 minute snapshots of an empty yard... I really, REALLY disliked that. I even went so far as to have just maybe 2 percent of the camera view as trigger zones, to limit it, and that still wasn't enough. But this - the human recognition really WORKS. Amazingly well. I've had dogs go by, I've had birds, bugs, all the things that would normally trigger the old system. Even the tall grass in some areas in my yard that are left to grow wild. This does a good job of finding the human being. And it finds them even on the edge of view, someone crouched by a car, suddenly there's an email and the NVR display shows them with the rectangle around them, being tracked. So for the first few days it started out as the best motion detection I've ever had in a system or seen. But now it seems to want to show cars as well. In an intersection in view, every car or truck that goes though is flagged, recognized as a human, and I get the email. It is getting to be very annoying that the system thinks cars and trucks there are people. At some point I'll deselect that spot from the motion detection zone and see if that helps. Also, I wish I could adjust the timing of the capture I get. Most emails show nothing but a foot - as if it sensed the person a few seconds later and the screen cap I get emailed for the alert is a few seconds prior, so I can't SEE the person. Sometimes a foot, sometimes nothing... Not useful when you get the alert and can't see the person that triggered it. I replaced a 6 camera system with this 4 camera system. I wanted to get two non alarm / floodlight cams to replace the last two, since I only had them in the garage, and in the basement watching my sump pump. But three seem to BE no cameras that are compatible with this. Neither Amazon has any listed, and even the company website has nothing - although the company website is pretty useless, doesn't show ANYTHING they have on Amazon other than a couple solar cameras. Even this system isn't visible on their webpage. And the webpage is being rebranded with Reolink graphics and the name, so I wonder if they're being bought out or something. That's a concern then for me with this new system, but we'll see. Since I couldn't find any cameras to tie into this, I simply got a couple Wyse cameras to put on my other app that I used for internal. And that brings up my final complaints here - the web UI is handy, and lets you get changes done even remotely (since I have the port forwarding set up on my home firewall) but it ALWAYS defaults to Chinese language and I've found no way to change that, so every time I have to change language. Annoying, I wish there was at least a landing page I could go to that would have it in English. And their support is useless with this. They don't seem to understand that it's THEIR HARDWARE that does this. When I asked them about it they keep asking me where I'm trying to go, give them the URL. I told them to just plug one of their NVR's in and go to the IP address in a webpage. Seriously, this has to be explained to their SUPPORT? The other complaint is that my settings don't persist across a reboot on the NVR. I only have four cameras - I keep the view in the 4 cam split view where each camera gets a quarter of the screen. Every time the system is rebooted though it defaults to 8 and the ONLY way to change that then is to get into the system with the mouse... This is another thing I've asked support about and there's no answer... So if the manufacturer sees this review, please, let us set a default view setting so that after a reboot we have the view we had last set it to, not the default 8 camera view. I threw in one of my spare 4 TB WD Red drives, and it formatted and was accepted fine, so I don't know what the maximum drive allowed is, but the 4 TB is not causing any issues. Hopefully I have no other issues with this, since I'm relatively happy with it, and I'm glad to finally had one that I didn't need to return within hours of unboxing. ... show more

  • One of the best outdoor WiFi security camera systems
Color: 8CH + 3MP 4Cams + 1TB HDD
The media could not be loaded. When you open the box inside you’ll find boxed cameras (4), the 1TB Digital Video Recorder, all the necessary power cables for the cameras and DVR, and the antennas. Is not require to mount the cameras higher than you feel comfortable doing, and cameras will need to be near an outlet within around 15 feet. (but if the outlet is a little further than that, I’ve got extensions to bring power to where I need it.)I have only installed two of them cause I need to install electric outlets on the other two locations I want to install the other two remaining cameras. The most important feature in this entire review involves the final location of your cameras. The range is the most important, and often the most limiting characteristic of any WiFi security system. I placed my cameras at the outer perimeter of my 1-floor, 4000 sq ft home. The WiFi network established by the YESKAMO NVR is more than capable of communicating with its cameras, both cameras stayed connected and was available for viewing fairly quickly (approx 10 seconds) when opening the App. Wonderfully no problem setup. The recordings of every event on your recorder for archiving, sending to anyone else or to be deleted as you wish, you can also remotely talk with people on camera, at night if detects movement the cameras are visible in full color otherwise is black and white. These surveillance outdoor WiFi cameras are really high-quality LEDs allow these HD cameras to see up to 100ft in complete darkness for 24-hour-a-day protection. GW Cameras use the latest high intensity IR LED technologies for maximum coverage. The image shown is an actual capture from a 4K camera in total darkness. Overall it is a great security system in every way. Setup is a breeze. Operation is loaded with easily accessible features, it could just as easily protect a business or home. I can choose to view my cameras from home, work or even if I’m on vacation. Best of all there is no need to ever pay a subscription to access my videos. ... show more
