This is it! The perfect raincoat for New Englanders! This coat arrived right before a rainy Nor'easter with super strong winds, so I got to put it to the test right away. The weight is nice ... This isn't heavy or bulky at all and I can imagine it being reasonably packable. However, it has a thin fleece lining that provides both warmth and defense against strong winds. The lining makes this so much nicer than every other raincoat I've had...it is soft and made the fact that I forgot my hoodie at home much more bearable. The fabric also makes it less noisy to move around in. It also feels more breathable than the waterproof raincoats I've had, or at least less suffocating. I've had coats that made me feel like I was marinating in my own sweat five minutes after coming in out of the cold, but I was very comfortable both walking around in the rain and the wind AND running into buildings that were warm. I walked around a museum in it for an hour before I decided to rake it off. The pics on Amazon don't do it justice. This coat looks very nice on...it falls nicely and is a flattering cut that let's you look like you have a waist instead of being boxy and shapeless. I got this coat in black and it looks nice over business casual and casual clothes. It seemed true to size leaning towards roomy. I generally wear a women's 10-12 and bought the large. Even though it has no stretch, I could easily fit a thick hoodie or sweater under it comfortably. The only thing I didn't love about the overall sizing is that the sleeves felt a tiny bit short, but I tend to like longer sleeves so they may be perfectly normal. The pockets are also fantastic. There are DEEP pockets both outside and inside. The outside pockets zip to keep any valuables protected but accessible, and I was able to fit a 1 liter water bottle in one pocket and a travel umbrella in the other. The inside pockets are vertical and even deeper and are honestly a better fit for water bottles and umbrellas. Just the fact that you can fit an umbrella inside this coat is fantastic. Whoever designed this coat actually considered running errands in a rainstorm. And yes, it is truly waterproof. I recently learned that my previous raincoat was, sadly, only water resistant and came home from a short walk with my dog with my shirt completely soaked. What is even the point?! This one handled heavier rain than that and for longer and my clothes stayed dry. The review ideas suggest "ease of use", which is a little odd, but ok: this coat was, in fact, easy to use. I was able to put it on, wear it, take it off, and hang it up without a problem. If you can use any coat or jacket, you can definitely use this bad boy. To sum it up, great coat, very very impressed.

Where do I even start?! This softshell rain jacket didn't just check all my boxes—it basically rewrote the rulebook. We spent 8 glorious, and a few soggy days in Ireland, and while the Atlantic winds tried their best to turn me into an icicle here and there, this jacket said, "Not today." It kept me toastier than a fresh pub scone, all while making me look incredibly stylish. Here is the breakdown of why this jacket is an absolute rockstar: The Best of Both Worlds: The inside is like a perpetual hug (so soft, so warm), while the outside shrugs off rain like it's nothing more than a minor inconvenience. The Secret Weapon Waistline: BONUS! You can cinch the waistline to actually give you a silhouette. Who says you have to look like a marshmallow just because it's pouring? Fashion, meet function. The "Paparazzi-Ready" Features: Thanks to the protective zipper cover and adjustable cuffs that lock out the elements, my hands were totally free to snap some absolutely stellar photos without freezing off. The Magic Hood: One quick pull and I was in full stealth-mode, tight-fitting protection. Another quick adjustment and boom—it slid right off. Accessorizing-Friendly: I am head-over-heels for the color. It paired perfectly with my collection of newsboy hats and scarves. Total vibe. I bought this jacket for a 2 week trip in February to Scotland, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. This was the perfect jacket for all of those cold, wet days. The water beaded up and fell off and it dried quickly when brought inside. The hood is generous and shielded my face from the rain. It did make it hard to look both ways at the streets, but I just pulled it back a bit to see better. The pockets were warm and large sized. They have zippers that kept my things safe and secure if I didn't want my hands in them. The length was very nice for me -- I'm 5'8" and it covered my bum. Could have used another couple inches, but it was definitely long enough. The sizing was a little generous, so I could fit warm layers under it. Not a bulky sweater, but multiple thinner layers. I stayed very warm throughout my trip. The only thing that bugged me a bit was the velcro tabs at the cuffs. The velcro grabbed some of my wool clothes and when I tightened the cuffs, it made a stiff fold that I felt. I may try to engineer an alternative cuff tightening solution, but it wasn't bad at all. This was the perfect jacket for about 30-50 degrees and rainy. It is NOT lightweight, as the title states.

This is a GREAT jacket. It very much reminds me of a Columbia fleece-lined rain jacket that I got on sale years ago (which I wore out until almost threadbare years ago) and haven't been able to find a similar one since for a good price. While this doesn't have some of the bells and whistles that my old jacket had (thumb holes, more inner pockets, etc) this is REALLY close, and I love that it's a bit longer. The microfleece is good quality. It also has a double zipper that my old jacket didn't have. I usually go between L-XL (larger bust). I went with the XL because I like to layer-- and this had a decent amount of room without feeling oversized. But, I could have probably done one size smaller. I tested this out the same day I got it because it was windy and a bit cold-- I didn't have any layers underneath and it feel nicely warm. I have high hopes for this! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I haven't had the ability to try it in rainy weather. I would be happy to change it to five stars if a rainy day comes along and it works out-- I have full confidence and am not worried about since it feels the same to my old jacket (which often kept me nicely dry) The other reason I gave it one less star is for my only complaint about this jacket is where the outer pockets are placed. This could be a matter of having sized up slightly (not sure though). I feel like they sit a little too low. I'm short and have shorter arms. I like my pockets to be at (more or less) elbow/waist height. These start at around my hips/upper thigh and run almost the length of the bottom half of the jacket. They are big pockets, so I can't complain too much. But, still, I would love to just rest my hands in there while walking around and that's not really possible with this cut. Still, good quality jacket at a decent price.

I’m 5’11” and ordered the XXL and the XL, well I went with the XXL. I like some room for sweaters, sweatshirts when it gets cold in the fall. It falls below my butt and unzips at bottom for sitting in the car and comfort. I ordered the deep wine and it literally looks great with blue, black, brown pants. I just love this jacket/car coat. I highly recommend it and my long arms are not an issue plus the Velcro can tighten the sleeves for keeping you dry. It’s light weight, very soft inside not too heavy but will keep you toasty. Taking it for its first wear to Ireland. I now feel prepared for any weather!!! Buy one!!!

I am impressed with the quality of the materials for this raincoat. I have not had to use it in cold, rainy weather yet, but I have tried it on and found it to be better-made than I was expecting, sturdy zipper, two inside pockets, two outside pockets, falls just above my knees (I am 5' 7"), soft, fully fleece-lined (even the sleeves!), this raincoat gives good coverage, inside drawstring cinch waist, hood with drawstring cinch. I cannot think of something that I would want that this raincoat does not have. I ordered an XL size (1 size bigger than my normal size) in order to be able to wear a sweater or multiple layers underneath, and that is the right choice for my needs. I got the red-wine colored raincoat, it is a great color. I am happy with my purchase and think this will be a much-needed and much-worn raincoat come November - December.

I bought this raincoat hoping it was a light, packable coat to take on a trip overseas. When it arrived, I was disappointed that it was not something I could easily squeeze in the bottom of my suitcase as was my purpose. I had even begun a return without trying it on because it was so much heavier than the envelope-packable coat I'd hoped for. However, at the last minute, I took it out of the zippered bag to try on. When I saw the pleasing, light green color (my camera didn't do it justice), the construction and generous, but not too large, sizing, I decided to keep it. It will be a good, long-term, yet still lightweight, raincoat. I intend to wear it on the plane instead of packing it in a ziplock or a small pack. It will still fit in the suitcase, but not be as compact as hoped. We travel with carry-ons only, so I needed the compactness, but hadn't thought about wearing it instead of packing it. There are several places for adjusting the coat against the weather and for the fit you want. The sleeves have velcro attachments for ease of adjustment. There are AMPLE pockets both inside and out as well as an inside adjustable pull for cinching the waist down if desired. An adjustable pull is also included for cinching the bottom of the coat for additional protection from the elements. The hood, too, has ties with which you can tighten it to better protect your head and face. One of the features that impressed me was that there is not only a front zipper with an overlapping zipper placket, but also a placket behind the zipper, so your body is protected from two directions as well as water dripping down the front. An additional benefit of the jacket design is that it is fleece-lined, making it a great transitional coat for shoulder seasons as well as winter here in the south. The front zipper slides smoothly and the two outside angled zippered pockets open and close easily, as well. It is classy looking and well-constructed and designed coat. While not as light as I had hoped, the other features lured me to add it to my jacket collection. The fabric is durable, yet not overly heavy and appears to be breathable for wearing in our southern humidity.

I have worn this jacket now a few times in the rain and it is truly waterproof. The water just beads up, and the hood comes in handy as well. It is fully fleece lined and quite warm. Only one drawback, and it is minor, is that the fleece lined sleeves do "stick" to long sleeve shirts you might be wearing causing the jacket sleeve to be pulled inside out when taking off the jacket. The fit is a little big, but that's OK because I can wear a bulky sweater under it.
