Oh my goodness. This is really great, particularly for sailboaters since you can use your rigging off the boom to secure and hoist the outboard with your winches. Outboards are so heavy, and most are mounted for transport off the back of your aft rail, so to get it on and off, you're holding the outboard over the water, and with your arms in a terrible position for the weight to fall on your back. And, if you trip, your outboard is sunk. This is a great way to take the weight off your back, keep yourself from losing your outboard, and easily secure it to your boat or dingy without risking losing it overboard. (Ask me what it's like to watch your perfectly good, freshly-tuned outboard sink - I can tell you.) The webbing is really high-end; it's 2" wide seatbelt webbing that's tight and strong. The buckles, clasps and all the hardware are heavy duty plastic (so no corrosion especially in a salt-water environment) and will last a long time. It comes in a carry-case and is compact for stowing in your lazarette. All the tails of the webbing are stitched securely and heat-treated to prevent fraying. This is a really good idea for every boater, but especially for those with back injuries (or those who don't want back injuries). And it's really well made - I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality and design.

Used it successfully with a chain hoist to mount a 9.9 Honda. It would be nice if Honda and the others stopped calling these things “portable” and provide lifting points. The harness could be improved by providing separate adjustable straps rather than the continuous one that tends to slip.

We have four engines I work on (all under 10 HP) and this is AWESOME to get a better grip on the motors when you have to take them on and off (and back on again) for maintenance. One of the engines we have is literally perched on the transom and also has a solar panel mounted right above… so grabbing it is such a pain in the rear (or lower back 😆)! The harness is wonderful because I can grip it so much easierly (new word 😂 actually….. found out that it’s an actual archaic adverb 🤓). And I can also rig a davit using the boom and now I have even more leverage. I haven’t gotten to a point where I can single hand my change outs for the 9 HP, but it is so much nicer when gripping the darn things. For the smaller engines, I can definitely grab the engines much easierly with the harness. I can pull it up, haul it over the side, and move it onto the dock, and then the motor cart single handed (like a really heavy grocery bag 🤭). Again, with the boom, I’m able to guide the motor instead of muscle it around. So nice. I love that the harness handles the 2HP - 9 HP. I love that it saves my back.

I found this to be a nice setup for smaller outboards. Lightweight but stable. If you are dealing with a four-stroke heavier motor with a large cowling, you might be pushing it with these (I have a Mercury Bigfoot that pushes the limit). But for trolling or kicker motors its a great addition. I don't suppose its recommended, but you could get several and hang your motors from them. I found it handy.

I like that the life jacket style clips come apart easily after you move the motor. The straps and clips are plenty strong enough. It can fit the size engine it says. It helps store outboard so they don't fall over even if on a stand. It is very functional and helpful. It has lots of other uses besides outboards.

This is a well-made harness that will be perfect for swapping out my old outboard for another. The stitching is heavy-duty, and the webbing will handle the weight. The buckles are also strong and easy to connect. I already have a hoist that will easily pick up the outboard motor. Although the instructions provide guidance for a generic outboard, I must say I had a difficult time attaching the harness. Getting the webbing in the right location which does not interfere with the cables/controls is challenging. However, that is a problem with my outboard setup, so I give it a full 5 stars for the quality and design.

This outboard motor hoist harness does exactly what it's intended. I tried this out on an older 1960s Sea King 5hp. It took a little patience getting it adjusted thankfully it came with instructions. Once adjusted to your motor size it will be much simpler the second go around. The fabric and clasps feel like they are pretty decent quality and will lift a lighter outboard motor without issue. Definitely will make fitting my outboard kicker bracket a lot simpler now that I can lift it with my engine hoist.

Complete set including a storage bag. Strap is very secure way to lift and stow dinghy outboard engine. We went from a small electric to a 9.9HP Tohatsu Outboard and this strap fit perfectly. The web assembly is a bit confusing at first but once you figure out how to fit it to the engine it feels very safe and secure. We are using it to lower/lift from dinghy transom to a rail mounted starboard mount and it works perfectly. No need to remove the strap when in use and also during transport/storage.
