Size: 6 HP-102 CC-Short Shaft
Bought Nov 8th 2025 Been using for 1 1/2 months several times per day…everyday. Used for my dinghy to shore and back. Ran good until yesterday..it quit mid throttle like the plug was bad. Picked up a new plug from O’riellys autoparts. Changed plug…no difference…wouldn’t start. I then checked fuel/air/spark. Ran on ether but not fuel. No blockages prior to fuel pump. Disassembled the carb (extremely easy) and found nothing cheaply made in it. However I had discovered that the float bowl adjustment was a quite a bit off not allowing the float to rise to the proper position. Pulled the main jet and there was the second problem. A small grain of something was wedged in the port. Cleaned the whole carb and adjusted the float. Runs better now than when new. Check your float and make sure it floats properly! Not complaining because this outboard is actually impressive. Forgot to mention that also the fuel/air mixture screw was out 4 1/2 turns…what. So this motor left the factory with improper float height and fuel air mixture at ridiculously rich mixture to compensate for float height. Good motor just check the carb settings. This was a minor inconvenience but could have went the other way. All in all it’s a good motor March 2025: rubber plug on lower half where you access the exhaust, propshaft and shifter linkage. apparently shrunk and fell out. Had to replace it with one from a 6hp tohatsu 4 stroke I have for parts. Had to clean the carb idle jet several times May 2026: Cleaned carb for the 3rd or 4th time with an intake gasket for the carb needing replaced. Motor still looks great with no deterioration especially being on saltwater everyday powering my dinghy.
