Features

  • Ideal for Quick Stops - The lightweight, compact OTTOLOCK Cinch is an innovative theft deterrent designed for short stops on any bike or e-scooter ride. The cinch design is perfect for mid-ride stops and errands without weighing you down
  • Ultra Lightweight - The 18 Original Cinch Lock weighs only 145 grams (0.3 lbs); much lighter than a U-Lock. It coils down to just 3 in diameter when not in use and can easily be carried in a pocket, saddle bag, or backpack, or on your bikes frame
  • Patented Design / Made in USA - The Cinch Lock is hand-built in the USA with three layers of stainless steel wrapped in aramid fiber jacket that resists the cutting and sawing of many theft tools. The band is coated in anti-scratch Santoprene plastic to protect your bike frame and is designed with a resettable 3-dial combination
  • Versatile - The Cinch Lock design is perfect for electric scooters and e-bikes. Its also great for other outdoor uses such as watersports, moto, snowsports, and construction
  • Convenient Security - The Cinch Lock is not a replacement for a U-Lock. The Cinch Lock provides an easy-to-carry solution to prevent opportunity theft. All bike locks can be defeated with proper tools, technique, and time. OTTOLOCK recommends redundant locking with a quality U-Lock, for long duration lock-ups and in areas prone to theft

  • Secure, Strong and light. What else would you want?
Style: 30" Hexband (Gray)
Fabulous lock. It is quite light and very strong. Certainly I would not lock up an out of eye sight $5,000 bicycle but it give one great confidence when you stop at the coffee shop or run in to mail a package. While it's venerability it to snips few petty thieves have those. I bought one for my son so he can lock his bike while at school and it is easy for him to operate. I would highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Light weight, easy to use protection for your bike.
Style: 60" Original (Otto Orange)
Light weight and easy to carry. I have several of these locks. I keep some attatched to my various bikes so I am never without. I took a 60 inch lock with me while traveling in Europe. Keeping lugage weight down is essential, so no one wants to sacrifice 5 pounds to a lock. But no one wants their precious bicycle stolen either. I could lock my bike nearly anywhere while visiting museums, shopping or sight seeing. Is this a cheap lock? No. But would you trust your bike's safety to a cheap lock? I don't think so. And I like that I can set my own combination code. ... show more

  • Lock mechanism randomly "forgets" your combo.
Style: 30" Original (Flash Green)
When I bought this I understood well that it's an overpriced piece of rope. Its function is to be really light and stop some idiot from just waltzing off with your bike when it's parked for 12 minutes: it's zero protection against a determined thief. The selling point is to be so light and compact that I can just keep it on the bike at all times without having to contemplate the weight penalty. I get it. The problem is the lock mechanism apparently randomly "forgets" the exact combination you have set. I returned to the bike outside a shop to dial in the combo I set and it didn't open. I had go off to get internet access to find out "this is a thing" and then I had to sit on my ass for twenty minutes fiddling with the number dials until it finally opened. I was on the verge of taking a cab home and returning with a hacksaw the next morning. Why they didn't just make these with fixed combos is beyond me. It's three digits. You can try every combo in a reasonable amount of time. Apparently it was too hard to get a proper combo reset mechanism working. So why did they bother? In summary: I'd give it three or four stars for its job as an overpriced, ultra-light, compact, low security lock, except it randomly decided to lock me out of my own bike. If they fix this and issue these with permanent factory set combinations that don't randomly stop working, I would revise my review to three or four stars. ... show more

  • Great “coffee stop” lock as advertised
Style: 30" Hexband (Gray)
I had one of the 1st generation Ottolocks which worked very well for coffee stops on club rides. I typically ride 3x per week and after a year & a half or so the lock starting jamming while in use and eventually would not unlock at all or only with great great difficulty. I tried silicone lube which seemed to help for awhile but then the problem recurred and I finally had to give up on the lock. Several members of my bike club had the same issue and were unable to unlock their bikes after a coffee stop. They had to find a maintenance person to cut the lock, which was a royal pain and obviously destroyed the Ottolock. My guess is that an internal part in the lock mechanism was under-designed and simply wore out prematurely. I will say that the locks did hold up pretty well to bolt cutters & tin snips, i.e., it took a minute or two to cut through them which is pretty good for such a lightweight lock and IMO definitely more secure than a typical cable lock - and also more compact. So despite my disappointing experience with the 1st generation Ottolock I still like the concept and decided to bite the bullet and try one of their new & allegedly improved Hexband models. So far I like it - it’s now thicker for improved cut resistance but not that much heavier than my first Ottolock. I sincerely hope the Hexband model lasts more than two years and doesn’t start jamming shut. If so I’ll be inclined to bump my rating up to five stars (however, if the problem recurs then I’ll likely change my rating to not recommended and start looking for another option for coffee stop lockups). ... show more

  • Great low-protection lock
Style: 30" Original (Otto Orange)
If you're in a low-bike-theft city, this is awesome. I wouldn't trust it in NYC or SF, or really any major city... but if you're in a smaller city with low bike theft rates, this is super convenient.

  • Just what I needed
Style: 30" Original (Flash Green)
The 30" Ottolock is a small, lightweight lock which I rate as a great 5 min lock. I use it at the park when I have to go to the restroom or at subway/jimmy johns when I want to get some lunch quickly midway through my bike ride and not have to keep one eye on my bike at all times. Plus it gives me some protection while I go to the bathroom. Recently I used it on the two day RSVP (Ride from Seattle to Vancouver and Party) bike event, at the rest stops when there are a hundred bikes scattered everywhere, none of them locked... This bright green (visible) lock is the perfect deterrent to make thieves look at the other 99 unlocked bikes there (philosophy: you don't have to be faster than the bear, only faster than the guy next to you). If you use this lock, don't think of it like a U-Lock but more like a kids curly cable lock. It'll stop the casual opportunity thief and slow a career thief down. This is exactly what I needed and meets my use-case perfectly; light, small and strong enough. As far as length goes, the short Ottolock is fine with me. it's small enough to fit into my seat bag along with my spare tube, CO2 cartridge, tire irons, and small snacks. I only lock the front tire and frame to whatever structure is there. ... show more
