    • Great
Worked as expected, no more cables.

    • Worked great! BUT..
Functionality wise this thing was easy to get set up. It did do its job, did exactly what it was supposed to do. However, it started making my car run funny. It made it feel kind of like I was running out of gas like I had no power so I started doing some research and trying to see if anybody else had this problem. Turns out , people did so I don’t know what exactly it’s draining if it’s the battery or what the problem is, but I do not recommend. ... show more

Easy connection, fast start, no delay

    • Quick connection, unclear manuals and instructions.
It works as advertised and connects quickly. I gave it four stars because the manuals and instructions are unclear, making the initial pairing tricky and leaving it uncertain if the product is updated. I couldn’t update it using the provided instructions. It claims to update OTA, but there’s no way to confirm this. I bring up updates because I have to unplug the dongle and store it in the glovebox, since I only use it for long trips. Leaving it plugged in to keep it updated is annoying, as anyone starting the car automatically connects to my Android Auto. The dongle powers down when the car is off, but even unlocking the doors wakes it up and triggers a connection. So, I leave it unplugged and risk missing updates. Also, if you have to use the included USB to USB-C adapter, the dongle sticks out awkwardly, isn’t sturdy, and looks odd. Once setup is done, the connection is super-fast, but the initial setup took several tries, requiring me to forget and re-pair the networks each time. ... show more

    • Works but kind of annoying
Does as described allows you to have wireless car play. The two things I don't like about it is that it always turns on your Wi-Fi. There is times were it does not want to connect. Also locking and unlocking the vehicle wakes up the dongle and randomly connects to your phone.

    • You will not regret buying this.
This product is small and is barely noticeable when plugged into my car. It is nice that I don’t have to have my phone plugged in to have airplay because it would not always connect. I have had no problems at all with connectivity. It is very easy to use and does what it says it should do for a great price. No problems with sound or with latency. ... show more

    • can't switch to new phone once initially set up
Here's the problem, it works when you first set it up, but if you ever want to switch it to a different phone it messes up. I've had other wireless carplay dongles and they are able to switch over to a new user just fine. I bought one of these ottocast ones, and it initially set up with my phone fine. Then I wanted to let my girlfriend have it for her android phone. Per instructions for setting up a new phone, I disabled the bluetooth and wifi on my phone (the one it was initially set up with) and per instructions - we connected her phone to the dongle via bluetooth, and the setup was supposed to be automatic from there. It didn't work. To top things off, I then tried to set it up on mine again, and this time it didn't work. So I returned that dongle and bought a SECOND one. Same problem: once it's set up initially, forget about it ever switching over to a new phone at some point. Like I've said, I've used other dongles (the JoyTutus one specifically) and it switches over just fine to a new user (per the instructions). So bottom line, it seems from my experience that this dongle is not only a lot more expensive than other dongles, it's also more limited. ... show more
