Description

Does it work with all car models? The Ottocast Mini works with cars that have wired CarPlay or wired Android Auto. If your car only has wired CarPlay, it won't support Android Auto with an Android phone. And, it is not compatible with BMW and Tesla. Does it need professional installation? The Ottocast Mini Wireless 2-in-1 Adapter requires no professional installation. Just plug it into your car's USB, enable Bluetooth and WiFi, pair with 'CAR2-XXXX,' and connect in 10 seconds. No apps or complex setup needed! Can it connect to multiple phones? Yes, it can pair with multiple phones, but only one phone is connected at a time. It will automatically reconnect to the last connected phone, and switching between phones is quick and easy. How long does the battery last? How long is the cable? The Ottocast Mini Wireless Android Auto Adapter has no battery—it's powered via your car's USB port for continuous use. Just plug it in, and enjoy wireless CarPlay or Android Auto without worrying about battery life! And No cable needed! Does it require a wifi connection? The Ottocast Mini Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Adapter doesn't need internet WiFi. It uses Bluetooth for pairing and WiFi for data transfer. • Major satisfaction at solving a minor inconvenience.
Color: Silver
My one quibble with my 2022 Subie is that to use CarPlay on the "infotainment system," I have to connect my iPhone via a USB cable. (Not every phone. Just iPhone. Maybe it's a comment on consumerism, I don't know.) In passing, I mention this niche problem to a friend, and she sends me link to this OTTOCAST. I punch "Buy Now" before my conscience can say "First World problems" and have no regrets. A day later, But seriously... The setup: It took maybe ten minutes to get connected, and most of that was opening the box and finding my glasses so I could read the instruction pamphlet. I plugged the dongle into the USB port on my Subie, and an info screen popped up, showing the model number to look for in my Bluetooth settings. I paired by confirming a matching code on each device, and that was it. Convenience: When I start the car, I see the same initial screen, but there's no need to re-pair devices. My phone stays wherever it is. The connection has been reliable, so no need to fiddle with the cable at stoplights. The USB port is out of the way, and the OTTOCAST has a small profile, so I forget it's there. The arrangement does cover the extra USB port above it, which could be an issue if you're short on power-delivery spots. Bottom line? For such a trivial problem, my happiness at having solved it is huge. Every time CarPlay comes up automatically, and I can look at the map, or have Siri read my texts and reply, or update my mom with my ETA, I'm delighted all over again. I didn't compare prices, but it's well worth it at just under $50. ... show more

  • Not reliable
Color: Silver
Worked great for about two weeks, connecting automatically to my phone without me having to do anything. Then I started having to unplug it and plug it back in for it to it to work. It gets reallly hot sometimes, which might be the problem. I recommend keeping it unplugged when you’re not driving. It has pretty bad latency, which doesn’t bother me when just listening to music, but if I’m parked and trying to watch a video, the delay is so bad that it’s unwatchable. I would give it 2 stars, because it does still function, but I expected this to be more reliable than the crappy cheap brands out there, because it’s way more expensive, yet that does not seem to be the case. ... show more

  • Very Pleased with this Unit
Color: Black
This is my second OTTOCAST Mini Slim. I purchased the first one for my truck and liked it so much that I bought another for my car. The compact size is one of the best features. It takes up very little space and does not intrude on the vehicle’s interior at all. Connectivity has been very reliable overall, with only occasional instances where it loses connection with my phone. When this does happen, the fix is simple: I unplug the unit for about 10 seconds, plug it back in, and it reconnects quickly. These disconnects are rare and have not been a significant issue. Overall, I have been very pleased with the performance, size, and convenience of the OTTOCAST Mini Slim and would recommend it to anyone looking for a compact wireless solution. ... show more

  • Works so far, but can't apply updates
Color: Silver
Easy set up -- just plug and connect via BT. Relatively fast boot time. But tried multiple times in various ways to download and apply firmware updates, but it would get to 99% then progress to FAIL. Would be nice if there were included additional instructions to download and apply updates via some wired connection (vs wireless over air updates) Car: 2021 Mazda3 Will update this review with the current Ottocast version and the version the update failed to apply after I get that information next time I am in the car. ... show more

  • What's old is new again
Color: Black
I’ve been using the OTTOCAST Mini Slim 2026 Upgrade 2in1 Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Adapter in my 2012 Chevy Tahoe with an aftermarket Pioneer AVH-4200NEX, and it’s honestly been a game changer. As newer iPhones like my iPhone 17 rolled out, my wired USB CarPlay connection completely stopped working, and even Bluetooth functionality started feeling outdated and unreliable with my head unit. It basically reached the point where my “smart” setup in the truck wasn’t smart anymore. That’s where the Ottocast stepped in. Setup was straightforward, and once connected, it paired quickly and consistently every time I start the vehicle. The biggest win is that it restored full wireless CarPlay functionality, navigation, calls, music, everything works seamlessly without needing to plug in a cable. Performance has been solid with no noticeable lag or random disconnects, which was my biggest concern going in. It essentially brought my older aftermarket system back to life and made it feel current again. Overall, I’m very happy with it. It saved me from having to replace the entire head unit in my truck, which would have been expensive and unnecessary. For anyone with an older aftermarket system that’s fallen behind modern phone connectivity, this is an easy and cost-effective fix that actually delivers. ... show more

  • Small, mostly works, but not always
Color: Black
Product: Ottocast Mini Slim 2026 Android Auto adaptor The good: it's smaller than most other adaptors, and the cube shape means that you don't have a long USB device sticking out and getting things caught on it. Connection between the phone and the car is usually fast too, being ready even before I turn the ignition key. The bad: It's got connection problems. About 15% of the time it doesn't connect to either the car, or my phone properly. Unplugging the adaptor and replugging it fixes it, but the frequency of problems is irritating. This adaptor is also quite vulnerable to being disrupted; anytime I drive past a red-light camera or traffic camera, it causes this to cut out for a few seconds. ... show more

  • Works great right now on my 2021 Subaru Ascent Premium.
Color: Black
I have had this for about a month, and so far it has been superior to the previous two competitors' models that only lasted about a year. Wireless CarPlay was not available on this 2021 Subaru Ascent. This is my solution. It comes on within a couple of seconds of starting the car. It accurately displays the CarPlay screen. It (so far) has not "cut out" or "frozen up" during operation. The main issue is that my 2021 Subaru Ascent has two USB ports close together on the dash, and this unit, while it only uses one, covers up the other unused port, making it unusable. Previous models were not as compact and had a dongle cord that connected to the port, leaving the second port available to charge your phone or other device. While this one looks much better, and almost like part of the car's original equipment, it is less convenient if you also need the second USB port. My problem has been that these don't work for more than a year, then you start to get connection problems, and the units cut out when you're driving. I keep the software updated when updates are issued, so I'm not sure what causes this. I'm hoping it will not happen with this one. ... show more

  • Worked okay at first, now very hot and won't work after 40ish days of use.
Color: Black
Since receiving, Car play has been really sluggish to switch between the app screens. Should have returned it first week when the sluggish issues were noticed but figured I don't use most apps not on home screen (Waze,Pandora, texts, phone) with enough frequency that I could deal with it as long as it kept working. That's no longer the case. Device is very hot when I have to unplug it from usb port to get it to reset and connect to phone after turning truck off/on starting around 2 weeks ago. Starting two days ago (11 days past return window), it would no longer play music or phone calls through the car play interface but maps would still work. As of today, it will no longer pair with my iphone at all. Will only play apple music on my wife's iphone and waze/google works but not apple maps. While it is small, the USB A version blocks both the USB C and USB A ports on either set of ports on my 2020 RAM Bighorn (truck has two sets of USB A/C ports that are arranged vertically) Good thing I got this on sale for 40ish bucks instead of paying full price ($89) ... show more
