The OTTOFIX D1 is literally the most functional device I have purchased to date. The device has a wide array of compatibility and many of the day-to-day features that are required to perform my duties as vehicles become more and more complex. Great tool!

I never do reviews but I had to do this one. I know people are passing this up because it's new and you're unsure if it's legit. I was skeptical that this was a knockoff but after doing some research I felt a little better about purchasing it. I'm glad I did. I was able to register it on Autel's website and update the software. I log into my Autel account and it shows the D1 Plus and when my updates expire. Speaking of updates, they are only $255 per year which is a fraction of the price of the Autel updates!!! Works just like the Autel with the same software. The case isn't as beefy as the Autel and it doesn't have a stand built into it. I like the stand on the Autel because it makes it easy to hang on the steering wheel but the Otofix is smaller and lighter. The Otofix also has newer hardware.     • I really had high hopes and got disappointed!!
What I like the most is that it operates using Autel software. However, I believe that Autel is holding some significant features that are available on cheaper scanners. For example, I have a scanner from xT…, that is less expensive, that enables ECU Configuration/Personalization on a 2008 Lexus ES350. I was able to adjust many features in the car. On this scanner, this entire feature/menu is not available. Also, the annual renewal cost on Amazon is $255. However, when I went to the store to check the renewal cost it was $299 (before tax). It did, however, show expected range for the Live Data values (but under the EOBD menu) while my xT… scanner doesn’t show this anywhere. Of course you get the pleasant UI and UX from Autel’s software and Android 10. One things that confuses me is that this model and the Lite model didn’t seem different when I compared them on the manufacturer’s website. They’re different in hardware, but the scanning software capabilities seemed identical on the same car make/year/model. I’m terms of scanning speed, I didn’t notice a difference between the 2 scanners. One thing I didn’t really like is that it lists some Special Functions and Actuation Tests that are not supported by the ECU even after automatic scan (just like the other scanner). The molded box of my other scanner seemed to have a better quality; I didn’t like the fragile plastic inner and outer latches in Otofix box. In terms of cost and functionality, the cheaper xT… scanner (that also has cheaper annual renewal fees) wins in my book. In terms of UI and UX, this scanner wins. As for what I think are missing features, I might be looking in the wrong place for them; so I would like to hear some clarification from the seller/manufacturer. I really liked the tool, but if these features are truly missing then I will be returning the scanner. I may consider the Lite version in that case as it seems to have more reasonable cost-benifit ratio. ... show more
