  • Top Notch
Size: 1000 Pounds
Well Made, used it for a 6 liter gm engine and 5.7 gm engine and with an adaptor 4l80E transmission. Good leverage to turn the engine over to oil pan side. I also bought an OTC drip pan for it much better quality than the Sunex pan. It made life so much easier with the transmission rebuild. It would be nice if it had the rotating gear drive. But for heavy engines V-8's and such, that you have thousands of dollars invested in would you want your engine on this or some cheap stand. I have had a cheap stand turn over on me before very sick feeling. ... show more

  • Heavy duty, high quality!
Size: 1000 Pounds
This stand is heavy duty! Already have a cheapo 1000 lb no-name stand and this one by OTC is no comparison. OTC stand is larger, higher quality, and has much heavier gauge material. Grade 5 hardware. I have a Dodge 318 V8 on the cheapo stand and it does fine, but I needed another stand to put a Toyota 2F straight six on. The straight six is heavier and longer than the 318 and I had doubts the other stand would hold it safely. No doubt the OTC will do just fine. Will update review once I put motor on it. Box was a bit mangled when it arrived, but no parts were missing and it went together easily. Edit, after putting engine on stand. Put 700 lb Toyota straight six on. Complete engine less manifolds and oil pan. No noticeable sagging when I put the weight on the stand. Stable, easy to rotate. Plently long and strong enough for a straight six, which was my main concern. 2nd edit. Have had stand for several months now. Have had heavy Toyota straight six on it for a month or more. Easy to rotate and move around. Good stand! ... show more

  • Definitely not OTC quality.
Size: 1000 Pounds
I have been a mechanic for over 50 years and have probably used hundreds of OTC specialty tools USA made, they were the Industry Standard for Quality. I purchased this 1000 lb engine OTC engine stand and didn't mind paying more because of the OTC brand. Although it is probably twice as strong as any other 1000 lb stand you can bye it definitely is Not the standard and quality OTC use to be. Made in China. Very dissatisfied with the quality. The welds are garbage, hope they hold to their capacity of the 1000lb the stand is rated for, and had to retap the bolt holes on the main mounting plate, Replaced all the mounting Chinese hardware with USA grade 8. Their stamped grade 5, but I don't it. It should last with the upgrades done because I definitely wouldn't bye another one for the price. ... show more

  • Great product, bad packaging/shipping with missing parts
Size: 1000 Pounds
So the product itself is incredibly well built. It can easily hold it's advertised weight and probably then some. Welds are all solid, thicker steel than the harbor freight ones, all good. My only complaints are: 1) the box it arrived in was destroyed--simply too light of packaging for the amount of weight. Some of this may be the shipper too, but the thing was literally taped back together; 2) because the box was destroyed not all pieces arrived (in my case the plate that the engine bolts to. Customer service was courteous; however, I had to wait an extra 5 days before I could assemble it and that pushed out our project a week. I asked for next day shipping and was told the best they could do was 2 day. It ultimately was shipped ground. So that's the reason for the one star ding; otherwise this thing is bulletproof. ... show more

  • A thousand pounds??
Size: 1000 Pounds
Our old engine stand must have gotten borrowed to someone who never brought it back, it was an old ATD, it worked good. We bought this just to see what the quality was compared to the cheaper ones. We also bought one for around $100. Let me tell you, there is no comparison. The OCT is so heavy duty, over built that there is no comparing any other engine stand with it. If you put a cheaper model side by side with the OTC of the same poundage rating you will think someone's scale is broken! The other engine stands look like toys. It does cost more money but when you get it in your hands you will know why. They make an oil pan to go on the bottom of the stand. That is also more money that the competitors but again, it is so much heavy dutier, it is well worth the money. Nice thick plastic that won't get a hole knocked it if you drop something on it. ... show more

  • Not Made in USA
Size: 1000 Pounds
This is another item I thought when I ordered it was Made In USA but when I received it it was made in china.I only need it for one use then probably scrpe it because I have a true Made in USA engine stand.

  • Everything about this stand is awesome. It's had a dressed 4544 on it
Size: 1000 Pounds
Everything about this stand is awesome. It's had a dressed 4544 on it, even idled the engine on it. Glad I spent the money on this. I've bought many more OTC tools since. So glad I didn't buy the parts store one and spent some extra coin.

  • Best Stand
Size: 1000 Pounds
Using this stand to assemble 440 marine engines in the main salon of my boat. Very sturdy, easy to assemble, easy to rotate once lubricated, and basically bulletproof. Truly a 1000 lb. class engine stand unlike others I've used. Only thing I'd improve is the ball lock pin for the handle which falls out. ... show more
