I’m not a barber at all, but these clippers make me feel like one. I cut my own hair with them and use the metal on-clipper #1, and the results are consistently great. They cut clean, feel powerful, and are easy to control. I’ve been using these for years. This is actually my second set — not because the first one broke (it didn’t), but because I travel a lot and left my other set at another place. Nothing else I’ve tried performs like these do. Best clippers I’ve owned, bar none. 10/10 would buy again if I ever needed to. I’m sure a real barber could give a more technical review, but from a non-barber perspective: these are so good.

I had my Wahl for almost 15 years and got great use out of them. It was time to replace those and my son's hair is extremely thick. The Wahl's struggled to make the cut and took several passes when cutting his hair although they still did alright with mine (no argument here that a good sharpening would have helped). I LOVE this Oster. I wanted a high end professional grade clipper system and that's exactly what this is. I didn't want some crappy lithium battery system that turns to trash in 6-18 months when battery fails either. These are just solid quality. They are a beast. They slice right through my son's extremely dense hair and the clipper guards are much more durable then the Wahl's. I love the spring locking mechanisms on them as well. (hint: for the reviews who say they are very hard to take on and off, disregard those, it is very easy, you just have to gently push on the side that has the spring. (Those people are pushing on the wrong side, hahaha) If I could say there is a downside it would be that these are heavier then the Walh's. To me this isn't a downside, they are a beast and solid and durable. The weight comes with quality and they are still easy to use. Buy with confidence.

Built sturdy and built well with an easy interchangeable blade! Works great even after being shipped in 20 degree weather in the Midwest. Cuts hair like butter, motor does tend to get a little hot. They are a bit heavy if you tend prefer lightweight tools but that doesn't bother me one bit. Do be aware that these (at least the skull ones) do not come with any guards.

1000/10, Love the 76’s, LOVE the flag design. I’ll never use another clipper. My 3rd pair in 8 years (don’t hang them and practice proper maintenance) sprung for the flag ones this last time. Even after 1000’s of uses (I’m doing 15-20 cuts a day) and cleans with clipercide, the designs still holding up pretty well. If you’re a pro, make the investment, nothing cuts as clean as a detachable blade.

This review is for an OYSTER LIMITED EDITION VIBRANT COLOR CLASSIC 76 specifically. Upon recieving this unit it appeared to be spray painted. I did not notice “hair” in the clippers or anything like other reviews have talked about. But what I did notice was that the ball bearing port on the side that takes in oil on the usual Classic 76 model was missing. This feature which is key is usually included on the OYSTER CLASSIC 76 is for the purpose of oiling the drive that makes the clippers move ultimately. I wondered how the drive could be recieve lubrication with no port for regular maintenence. Well, I started using the clippers and while they did cut just fine the clippers got hot. Not a good thing. That means the drive needs lubrication. I watched maintanence videos and then reviewed them when OYSTER responded to my initial email and gave me a link to the same video. The video still did not provide instruction in reguards to how oil the drive without a port for oil. Instead, in another email OYSTER suggested I use the grease provided to with the unit to grease the inside of the top of the unit compartment where the moving parts directly cause the clipper blades to go back and forth. This is a whole different part of the unit from the one I was inquiring about BUT I did so per their instruction and it was not a fix for the overheating as it wouldn't be since the top compartment does not connect to the drive compartment. After a back and forth with Oyster giving me the same instructions a few times I finally just asked that my unit be replaced with a proper Classic 76 since thats what I spent money to buy from them. They offered me a refirbished proper unit for a 50 something dollar charge plus shipping cost. A refurbished until is not what I paid for and a different varitation (the one in question) of a CLASSIC OYSTER 76 is not what I paid for either. So I wrote back explaining my position that I was owed what I paid for. Oyster then sent the same offer once more for a refurbished unit and instructions on how to NOT fix the one I had again. I wasnt interested in going round and round anymore with OYSTER about this. I felt ripped off and that I had been sold a faulty product by OYSTER and they weren't admitting to it or trying to make it right. Since then I’ve been reading other reviews and came accross folks having the same issue and also one saying that this wasnt a true Classic 76. I agree with that, but also if OYSTER bought these from a manufacturer (let's say) and then put them under the OYSTER brand name then OYSTER needs to own their choice and make the situation right for people that unknowingly purchase a faulty product. OR if they did make them then SAME THING. Furthermore they shouldn't deceive buyers into ordering the units under false pretences (that is, folks believing that they had purchased a proper CLASSIC 76). Ive experienced silent recalls under different companies return policies so they didnt have to admit fault but I don't think I can remember a “No Refunds, this is on you” strategy from a company. Thats what I got here. AND it's especially strange from a company known for being the go-to brand for Barbers. Their products are supposed to last a LONG time if treated properly and maintained correctly. I wrote Oyster about how I was going to post this review so people were informed of the problems with this unit and what they could expect from OYSTER if those buyers chose to seek a trade in. (I did not try for a refund since I still need some clippers around to use!) They still wouldn’t make it right. The end result: If you buy this unit and discover that its faulty then write OYSTER about this product having issues you will get the run around for a bit and then after some pressing they may offer you a trade in that will cost you 60+ bucks altogether (shipping and unit) for a “refurbished” (but in my opinion) “REAL” Classic 76 model Clipper unit. I am done with OYSTER after all that. And I don't want to keep bothering the person who has to handle my case since it appears their hands are tied and OYSTER doesn't believe in 100% customer satisfaction or this whole thing would have been solved easily. BONUS TIP: For those of us who did not go to Barber school and were not formally trained on how to maintain clippers after you get a “real” unit I urge you strongly to read the whole manual that comes with the clippers AND watch the OYSTER videos on youtube then buy all the maintenence products needed. Perform all the steps when the manual and training videos say to and then you will have yourself a pair of clippers for a LONG TIME. The normal OYSTER CLASSIC 76 units are used by barbers non stop sometimes for years and years (and years). Think of them more like a power tool that needs to be oiled and maintained rather than a pair of clippers that gets thrown away after a year or two that you buy from a box store or whatever. Instead ,enjoy spending the extra money and being rewarded for buying a proper pair of clippers just don't buy THIS particular pair listed on this AMAZON PAGE. I will update this review if there are any new developments with my situation. IF YOU ARE SCANNING THIS REVIEW JUST DONT BUY THIS PARTICULAR SET OF CLIPPERS AND GO FOR A “REAL” OYSTER CLASSIC 76 UNIT. THIS ONE IS NOT IT.

My old clippers stopped working and in the middle of the work week I needed a new pair asap. Ordered these and got the design i wanted and have had them over a month and they work great. Lighter compared to the standard 76s and havent had an issue with them yet. Only main issues is that the screws keep coming loose but that's an easy fix.
