The Osterizer my husband gave me in about 1966 finally died a couple years ago. I'm cooking less, so just let it go to the landfill and forgot about it. Recently, my son in law underwent a surgery that has modified his diet; since I have the "kids" (my daughter and her husband) for once a week, I decided I needed to get close to Oster again. I'm very pleased with the Oster Pro Blender I bought from you. It responds to a variety of actions, some of which I"ll probably never use. . . . a lot more than what I used in 1966. ... show more

  • Keep the parts from your old model
Style: 3-in-1 Kitchen System Texture Select Ble...
This is my third Oster blender, I previously bought the Oster Pro 1200, but wanted to get the newest model with matching parts and 1200 watts. My first 1200 Pro died 3 years after purchasing (motor just dead), and my last one had the drive pin bend so it made a terrible noise after 4.5 years. I make smoothies with frozen fruit every day, so I needed the power. From what I read online 4.5 years of daily use is pretty average for blenders, expensive or cheap, so I was fine with my old one lasting that long. My thoughts on the new model vs the old: Pros: -controls seem like they'll last (old one only lasted a year before the lights died) -new plastic pitcher is designed so it makes less noise by surrounding the base -pitcher is bigger, though the recommended max fill is the same -smoothie cups are also quieter to use -it you had an old model, the parts are interchangeable -this model was released in 2021 vs. the old one being released in 2015, so presumably they've fixed any common problems that the old one had? Cons - -smoothie cups use a different base than the pitcher, so you have another part rattling around in a drawer -new model only came with one smoothie cup base that seems like a weaker plastic than the old one -the food processor did not come with a grater blade or the parts to attach one (luckily I saved my old parts from the old model. That processer's drive shaft broke after 3 years) Not coming with that blade was a huge con for me because that was half of the reason for buying a food processor along with my blender. If I didn't have the old parts I would have returned this one to buy the model without the food processor. I hope this is helpful if you're trying to decide between models. I know I was struggling with the decision for several weeks. 😂 ... show more

  • Good all-around blender
Style: Texture Select Pro Blender
This is a great blender for most uses. I like that it has a very sturdy blade with multiple arms to boost its blending power. It has very sharp, and I have to use a little care when I handle it. The blender has good power, and the multiple settings allow me to customize it for whatever I need to do. I haven't used it for chopping things, but my guess is that it would work best for salsa only. It doesn't work well for nut butter because there's too much of a space surrounding the blade; I tried that once and will never go through all the work of scraping down the sides. It took a fraction of the time in my food processor. One quirk with the blender handle is that it retains water in the dishwasher. I have to tip it over and shake it to empty it each time. But overall, I'm happy with it, and it seems to be of a good enough quality that it will last a long time. ... show more

Well, a month ago the wife broke the lid on my Ninja Blender. The replacement lid was over 100 dollars, and even though I was mostly happy with the ninja. I figured for that money I may as well go back to Oster. Before the Ninja I owned a classic Oster Beehive. So frankly I picked this Oster based on price and the wide base. I have noticed with the Olde style narrow based osters don't perform that well against the newer wider based blenders. So when I saw Oster had a wide based offering I decided to give that a try. I love this blender. It has 3 speeds, the low is slow enough to be useful with thick liquids and the high seems as high as my old beehive and definitely faster than the ninja. This Oster has some preprograms you can run which are pretty straight forward. If you select Salsa, it will run a program that pumps on and off at various speeds which actually does work pretty well for making salsas of various consistencies. The Smoothie setting starts off slow and runs the blade forward and reverse a few times with a slight pause in between as it gains speed. The milkshake setting starts off slow and has several pauses in between as it gains speed. Mostly I use the Smoothie function as I find the forward and reverse action of the blade to really help get the I gredients mixed well with a even Consistency. My wife make salsa quite often and she is very happy with this blender as well. The clean up is similar to other Oster blenders, with the exception that the base is just wider. The blades still screw in, there is still a gasket, basically when I am done I take the blade off, rinse it, and then just rinse the jar straight out to. The only thing I would rather have is a glass jar. The plastic one gets the job done, but it did stain to a pink tinge after the wife made habenero salsa. The I Individual blendar cups are still crystal clear but I have only used them for making blended iced mochas.... Anyway I was pleasantly surprised with how good this blender performs. I recommend buying another blade set. The blendar jar and single serving jars, use differently bases and though you can move the blades from one base to the other easy enough, if the wife is making salsa and you want a mocha well without another blade you are sucking wind till she's done..... ... show more
