  • Awesome toaster

  • Needed more toast at breakfast!
Size: 4 - Slice
When I cook breakfast for people I always end up scrambling at the end to get all the toast ready at the same time. That's when I realized I needed a four slice toaster, and this one has worked perfectly! I had been using a two slice Oster toaster for years and decided to go ahead and buy the same brand. I have not been disappointed! Right from the start I appreciate the fact that the whole thing is stainless steel. I'm not a fan of hot plastic smells when making food, and this toaster doesn't have that problem like other cheaper ones might. There was an initial smell of hot metal from the first couple uses, so I used the end pieces of some loafs of bread to burn through that. By the third use it smells totally fine, and it works perfectly! I know some people may expect that it toasts evenly on both sides, and this one does a pretty good job at that. Either way I always stop the toast and flip it over a few times during the process. Each piece of bread is slightly different and may cook differently. I'm super satisfied with this toaster, and it was exciting to have everything ready at the same time for once when I made breakfast! ... show more

  • Pretty good toaster
Size: 4 - Slice
Pretty good toaster. It works well, and I would buy again. The knobs are just somewhat hard to judge.

  • Works as Advertised - Simple and Priced Right!
Size: 2 - Slice
It does what it's designed to do. After all the pop-up toaster has been around for 100 years now and the basic concept and design remains the same. For me, I don't see the need to complicate simple with additional buttons or now, even digital displays? Why? Great value for the price and easy to clean by shaking out the crumbs. ... show more

  • Expected better, but good enough.
Size: 2 - Slice
I expected better after replacing this with a previous Oster that was used 3-4 times a week for 26 years. Likes: It works good enough and toasts bread. Dislikes: The price for what it does. It doesn't toast evenly on both sides in either slot. White Bread setting low to half seems to be the same level of toasting; Past medium to high = burnt. Sourdough, I have to use medium, then after it finishes toast it some more for another 30 seconds and cancel. Setting past medium to high will burn it. The "Cancel" button is STUPID! The toaster can only sit on my counter turned, putting the cancel button on the side so I can't see it. Just let me lift the handle like the good old days, don't lock it in place. It also doesn't pop the standard size white bread up high enough to take it out. Leaving a chance to burn your fingers. As the saying goes.... "They don't make them like they used to". ... show more

  • Worst Toaster Ever! Cheap! Cheap! Cheap!
Size: 2 - Slice
I use my toaster every morning. My last two toasters cooked evenly and lasted approx. 20 years. I doubt this new Oster will survive 5 years. My last toaster was an Oster, so I hoped this newer Oster would be of similar quality. I was so wrong. Before buying a new toaster, I looked at several review sites. One review site worked with a university to break down and analyze newer vs older toasters. The conclusion was, the old toasters were built to a higher standard. That most new toasters are made with cheap components. That paying more for a toaster mostly provides more features, not better quality. My old Oster had a plastic shell that helped to protect against burns, and everything felt solid. The new Oster toaster, despite having a stainless steel shell, weighs half as much and feels like a flimsy toy. The feel of the lever, knob, and buttons just screams cheap. Lowering the toast with the lever feels and sounds flimsy. This toaster has comically small feet. Worse, only 2 of the 4 feet have tiny grip pads. The other 2 feet are just hard plastic. Between the feather weight of this toaster and the lack of proper feet and no slip pads, when you push the bagel or eject button the toaster slides on the counter. The toasting is very uneven, with the top starting to burn as the bottom is just getting golden brown. English muffins are thin on the edges. On bagel mode, the heating elements on both sides heats up. If you want your english muffin medium brown in the middle, the edges will be blackened. The stainless steel finish is a fingerprint magnet. After 1 week of use, it looks like it's years old. I’m perfectly willing to drop $120 on a toaster the toasts evenly and lasts 20 years. I’m not sure such a thing exists anymore. Bottom line, this is a worthless, disposable toaster that should bring shame to Oster for having the nerve to foist this garbage on their loyal Customers. If I can find a decent replacement toaster, I will be donating this one to a thrift store. Update: After additional use, I loath this toaster even more. Objective Truths: 1) Toasts unevenly, in all ways possible. Inside/outside, top/bottom, left slot/right slot. Bagel setting is useless 2) The inner elements toast darker than the outer elements. 3) The lower end of the toast is always darker than the top. 4) The right slot always toasts darker than the left slot. You have to change the toaster setting depending on slot used. 5)The bagel setting is useless. Both sides of bagel always toast. It's little different than not using the bagel mode. The bagel mode will ruin split biscuits and buns. I like to toast the inside of a bun for sloppy joes or burgers. To get the inside toasted golden brown, the outside will always get over toasted, often with an unappetizing dark crunchy circle in the center. 6) Worst toaster ever. 7) Buy any other toaster, it can't possibly be worse. I have included two sample pics. Update 2: Photo example of an Oster toasted english muffin. In classic Oster style, it features blackened (burned) bottom, while the top has high spots that are un-toasted. Good grief! Toasters made 50 years ago toasted evenly. It's like Oster has no experience designing toasters, or just plain did no product testing before pushing these crap toasters off to retailers. (facepalm) ... show more

  • Love This Toaster
Size: 2 - Slice
I really like the look of this toaster — it has a retro yet sleek style that looks great on the counter. Most importantly, it toasts evenly and consistently. We bake a lot of bread at home, and it easily handles large, thick slices without any trouble. It's simple and easy to use.
