    • Great laser to start off with and a good price to match.
I purchased the 15W version of the Laser Master 2. It arrived with 2 day shipping. The packaging seemed to keep everything tight and secure. The instructions were clear enough to put it together in a reasonable timeframe. For me 45 minutes to an hour being meticulous and careful while also fighting off the cats as they performed their inspections on the product. The box came with a note that said I got a new version of the laser which had a fixed focus. It took me a minute to figure out how to align everything because I didn't notice the pictures near the end of the instructions. Basically there's a locking pin that allows you to adjust the height of the laser and a metal block that you place between the workpiece and the laser head. Twist the screw and that provides a perfect focus adjustment. I understand that some people might want an adjustable focus but for me that simplifies the process and removes user error when trying to dial in the laser beam. I purchased a better set of glasses for the laser after some reviews indicate how the glasses supplied are not that great but it's understandable that you're not getting a $40 pair of eye-pro with your $300 laser. I picked up the 15W instead of the 20W for the $60-$70 difference. Not much of a power difference in the laser and I figure this is my entry level laser. Eventually, if I want a more capable laser I'll upgrade to a CO2 model. I did some test engraving in some walnut and some plywood laying around. The garage became rather smokey, recommend some sort of ventilation or a respirator. Luckily I had one for painting with a sprayer and that seemed to work well. No static/print assembly instructions are present. Only video assembly instructions. After a good deal of wrestling and a trip to the hardware store for a washer, as one was short, the laser cutter is operating. There was a lot of fine tuning. I only am using it for leather, specifically very thick 10 oz or so. An air assist is a must, fortunately the laser master 2 s2 came with the nozzle and I already owned a decent pump. Now the armature is randomly sticking in places and completely screwing up the cut programming so it just cuts random lines. Its super not useful. Further, this item has never managed to put down a frame for rhe project the same way twice. If you click homing and frame twice in a row, you get 2 different rectangles. Honestly, i'd be better off paying a blind child to cut my patterns. ... show more

The only issue I’m having and that just started, the machine stops in the middle of the project and won’t continue. I have to start all over again which causes the project not to be se metrical. I thought it was the computer foing idle but that’s not it. When it does go idle it starts just fine. Don’t know what’s going on. ... show more

I got the 1st Ortur Laser Master 2 almost two weeks ago... I worked to get it working for 7 days... never worked... sent it back.... Ordered another and sent the bad one back... just got it today... WORKS GREAT....! Took care of 2 jobs that had to be done today..... Just got refund for bad unit... (don't hold it against them....) Love you Ortur.....! ... show more

This should be the standard for DIY laser engravers. I was reading about Otur on the Laser GBRL website (the free engraving software) and they basically said that of all the cheap Chinese kits, Otur is actually a great company that innovates and improves their product. So that was a good sign. Putting it together took a little work. I watched the video and had to pause and rewind a lot, but it wasn't too painful. Took about 45 minutes. Took me a little while to dial in the process and not get skipping. IF your laser is skipping, you're going to fast. You need to do a lot of adjusting and find the right speed combos. I have had frustrations, but figured things out and I can get a really nice deep, dark burn on Oak wood in about 25 minutes for a large and detailed engraving. Very nice quality and super sharp if you are using a vector file. The laser is extremely powerful, and I have burned many many pieces now and it seems to be just as strong as the day we got it. If you're fretting over which cheap laser engraver to get, this is the one. ... show more
