I needed to wear a belly belt after complications following bowel obstruction surgery. The ones I purchased from the medical supply store were to wide and I had to cut a section off and then do an overcast stitch to keep them from fraying. The Velcro on these belts were so strong it was painful to my arthritic fingers to try to release hem. This belt is actually rather attractive and easy to open and close. I thought since it opened so easy it might pop open when doing chores or excecising, but no it has not. It also has not picked up dyes and lint from my clothes like the other belts. ... show more

I recently had abdominal surgery and the hospital sent me home with an abdominal binder that was about 12 inches wide. I'm a bit short waisted, and it was a constant battle to keep that binder in place...it constantly worked it's way up and the plastic "struts" inside it gouged me. Talking with the surgical nurse, she suggested that I look for a narrower binder, and I found this one. I've been wearing it for three weeks now...wish I'd had it from the start. It is much more comfortable, but, it does still ride up sometimes. I really do like it as it is easy to adjust. But, there are a couple of things that I am not as keen on. My original binder was one piece of elasticized fabric and it didn't 'bend". This one is also one piece, but, the fabric is sort of in "channels" which allows it to bend or fold. It's not a big deal, but I would prefer it if it didn't do that. Also, the Velcro "hooks" are sharp! I have to be very careful in placing them as they do scratch my skin. I've been wearing a cotton camisole under the binder and that has solved the scratching problem. Overall, it's been a good purchase. It seems to be very good quality. I'm 5'5" and about 200 pounds and the XL fits me perfectly. ... show more

A nice belt but it rolled on me. The belt helped with my umbicial hernia pain. It felt supportive. But it rolled so I have to wear it rolled. I can't keep unrolling it. Back front and sides. I am seeing a surgeon next week so this will keep me feeling somewhat secure until then. Surgery likely. Nice beige color. Well made. But rolled. ... show more

I had extensive abdominal surgery and needed to wear this for 8 weeks 24/7 to prevent adhesions from forming like the last time did 8 months ago and had to have surgeon fix them. Here's a tip though: If you are a female, put the binder over your underwear instead of over your clothes because the binder rides up the stomach and because of the very tight velcro fasteners it's hard to pull apart once it's adhered to the opposite side to keep pulling it down and over the clothes. Another thing: To prevent having to "take it off, take it on" all the time when going to the bathroom, just push the binder UP towards your chest and do your business and then pull it down over the underwear. This will work for men as well if they wear "tidy whiteys" only. I didn't find out all these easy things to do until I figured it out 5 weeks later! LOL! I sure could have saved arthritic thumbs from a lot of pain had I figured it out beforehand. Oh well..better late than never right? ... show more

    • It rolls!

There are several design problems with this item... 1. It rolls almost immediately, if it rolls it doesn't work. 2. Scratches your stomach by the Velcro. The Velcro needs to be smaller than the actual stretchy end. 3. Due to the rolls, it cuts into your skin. I had high hopes for this one too.

    • This abdominal binder provides good support.

My surgeon recommended this support after surgery to help the incision heal. The elastic stretches gently, so it is not uncomfortable. Hand-washing is easy; elastic does not stretch out if shape. Good product.
