Would give 5 stars except machine came with a bad laser tube. Tube was not marked with max or sustained output, and did not perform to even a minimum standard. Contacted Orion Motortech, and was instructed through diagnostics to determine the problem, once it was agreed the tube was bad, I was instructed to destroy the old tube, and a new tube was sent. New tube took 2 weeks to arrive, and machine is operating very nicely. The support was very attentive, and responded quickly to all communication. The air system and vent fan are now built in, and the new lid allows for better view of the bed as parts are cut. Still comes with the aquarium pump water cooling system, recommend upgrading that. Also, the internal venting fan isnt the greatest, if you dont have good shop ventilation, I highly recommend augmenting with a strong blower.     • Can't really beat the machine for price
For the dollar amount, you can't beat it. There's another review in here that lists lasers123 website, and they have the necessary/recommended upgrades outlined that you should look into. They do have affiliate links, so be aware of that, but their group is pretty legit in troubleshooting and assistance. You can definitely get by without the upgrades if this is a hobby machine, or to start off with, but if you're looking for a production level, definitely start budgeting for the upgrades. Air assist, exhaust and chiller are the 3 vital ones I'd recommend to start with (especially if in a warmer climate, can get by with frozen water bottles in buckets, but HIGHLY recommend an actual refrigerant cooler to extend the life of your laser). There are also tools to help with laser alignment as well for those that struggle (I know I do from time to time, it's a PITA until it just clicks). My lid did come a little tweaked, the crate did come a little damaged from shipper but the machine and tube appear to be in working order. I have yet to put it under some serious time/work hours due to time constraints and waiting on some upgrades before doing so myself. I managed to work out a lot of the lid twist by essentially taking it off (not really the easiest to put back on by yourself), and adjust it. Still doesn't close the easiest, one side's hinge and shock seem to be a little more over powered than the other, but I haven't messed with it since day one. That's something I am not really too worried about as it's not really bad at all (like 2-3 mm off, just enough to barely catch the edge - figure I can probably adjust it some more to get it perfect when I get more time). The one strip of LED lights is kind of meh, so that's kind of a life enhancement upgrade. I personally routed some like the website I mentioned, (one loop around the work area), then I put an extra one across the back, and one strip down each of the sides to make working in the side doors easier when adjusting mirrors and working on the machine. It was just a matter of running a couple extra wires and a few extra solder points. I may run a couple lines through the lid and place them next to my camera for lightburn as well, but we will see on that one. You can remove the base from the top with 4 screws in order to turn it on its back and bring it inside if you cannot wheel it inside as one piece. The key needed to open the panels to do so will be zip tied under your lid, and there will be allen wrenches in your tool kit (zipped bag) inside your included bucket under the hood as well. I recommend taking some painters/masking tape and taping the lid shut so it doesn't spring open on you when moving it. Be aware, you are not getting a Glowforge or something similar that requires an internet connection to work. This isn't a plug and play system. This isn't a one size fits all system. This is something that will take some tinkering and may not be for everyone. You're literally getting a laser system for a fraction of the price of what they would go for. Either the machine itself or Lightburn software may take some time to get use to, but there are tons of wonderful people on a few helpful Facebook groups (just search OMTech). ... show more

    • Faulty Product, Terrible Directions, Missing Parts, Horrible Customer Service
First I was contacted by UPS and they asked if I had a means to "get it off the truck" to which I replied "that is what UPS is being paid for and I don't think your insurance covers non employees unloading your truck". They said the shipper did not pay for freight that requires a liftgate. I guess the shipper agreed to the additional fees because it came in a traditional tractor trailer with liftgate. Next was putting it together. After figuring out the terrible directions (with help from YouTube), which were not actually for this machine. I managed to get it functioning. It had some problems which included, LED's that did not function (within a strip of functioning LED's), the plastic cover for the bed was a bit misformed, on start-up the laser head would return to the corner and the machine would shake real bad (some screws would loosen after a few startups). It seemed to burn / engrave OK but I had not really tested it to compare to some benchmark tests. When it got to cutting that's where it became very clear that it was not only out of focus but it seemed to be underpowered. It seems the final lens it goes through was damaged and was splitting the laser. Upon contacting the company they didn't do much. They did offer $50 for the slightly deformed plastic cover, they asked for a bunch of pictures (which I supplied, including a video), they never responded about the several LED's that didn't work, they told me I would have to buy my own heat shrink tubing that was supposed to be included (no a huge deal but really?), they didn't responded about the machine shaking, they told me that the 2 stickers on the laser tube that are supposed to align with the supports did not have to align and they tried to get me to communicate through a different email address instead of through the email through Amazon. This new email address wasn't typed into the email but included as a photo type attachment. Then they stopped replying to my emails. I've taken additional steps through Amazon at this point. UPDATE: After speaking to one of their techs and checking various connections, dip switches and limit switches, it turns out the shaking at start-up was due to a faulty limit switch. The laser had also damaged the focusing lens. After clearly communicating that I needed a new lens to the tech (who also told me how to remove the piece that holds it) and sending a picture of it twice, they still sent the wrong lens. You would think they would know the proper part to send. The did send a new limit switch and LED bar. I did not install them because without the lens the machine is useless. Ultimately, after a month of trying to get this machine in proper working order I had enough. It has been returned and a refund has been issued.
