  • Initial reaction to the Prusa MK4S on the first day and first 'big' print.
Style: Assembled
I've been 3D printing for about 3 years and have used an Anycubic Kobra Max...whcih I thought was a great printer but it has issues (like I had to replace the printhead 3 times, failed adhesion, etc.) so I thought it was time to look for a replacement. I spent several months doing research, reading reviews, etc. I decided to go with a Prusa MK4S. I got it yesterday and the set up was a 9.7 out of 10. The instructions for attaching the spool arm could have been better but all in all, it was truly out of box, plug in, and print (after an easy selftest) but that is not the point of this review...this is: I ran the first suggested print and it was VERY easy. Some points I want to note: 1) The menu is quite easy to follow 2) The ease of installing filament was drop dead simple 3) The fact the print head set up the filament AND cleaned off the test run was stunning 4) The 'self check' during print set up was a tad noisy but tolerable 5) The printing was very smooth and quick All sounds good so far but wait... Ok, the 'test' print went well but let's try a tough one. I choose a complex print of a nice 'pencil' cup with dragons all over it. (The Anycubic required supports). What amazed me was the cup print seems to NOT ask for supports even though there were overhangs. Ok...let see how this goes... The cup took 12 hrs and WOW! Talk about amazing difference! The Anycubic did well but you could tell it was a 3D print...nice but 8 out of 10 for smoothness/etc. This one (MK4S) was stunning! It needed ZERO supports and the print was so smooth I had to run my hand over it to recheck...nope! No lumps, bumps, ridges! This is an amazing printer! So sturdy, so easy to set up, and SO much better in print quality. Downside? $500 vs $1,200. It is an expensive printer but the quality shows! Can I recommend the MK4S? Absolutely! If you can afford it then by all means get this printer! ... show more

  • 3D printing workhorse
Style: DIY Kit
Great to build and use for kids, can be assembled in a day with a lot of fun. Works fine right after assembling. Different brands of PETG and PLA filament from Prusa, Bambu Lab, and Esun print well even with generic profiles, while extrusion multiplier and bed temperature tuning according to ambient humidity and temperature are beneficial for accuracy to print miniatures. Very durable build and can be moved by the top of the frame. Surprisingly quiet even for a live room. Part cooling is fantastic while still very silent. Prusa Slicer integration (i.e. Prusa Connect) and iOS/Android mobile app with cloud slicer (i.e. EasyPrint) just work too. And it actually costs about the same as a cheap Chinese 3D printer like the Ender 2 v2 with a replaced extruder, powerful full-metal hotend, linear rails, quality Z axes, a custom cooling system, RPI Zero W2 with Klipper, etc. ... show more

  • Best purchase ever
Style: Assembled
THE BEST PRINTER EVER! Prints SO fast, worth every penny. Only real thing is the flexing, which ink if it's the printer or operator, but whenever it cools in the middle of a print, everything warps. I printed something to fit against a flat wall, and sticks out on each side from the wall like half an inch. I think it's my fault, so 5 star ... show more

  • First 3d printer and I’m blown away! First 3d printer and I’m blown away!
Style: DIY Kit
Building this kit is worth the time and effort. The interactive instructions on the website along with comments from other people are extremely useful. It took me 3 days to assemble it, and I didn’t break any of the delicate printed plastic parts, and I only had to sacrifice one thermal pad, and I stripped out just one screw and nut in the beginning. The kit includes many spare parts for small snafus such as these. The design uses many 3D printed parts held together with allen key screws and nuts. A bit tedious to work with but not difficult once you get the hang of it. The interactive instructions are not perfect, but that’s where the comments fill in what details may be missing. Some people report having issues with the automatic calibrations at the end, and talk about that in the comments. As I worked through my assembly, I followed the instructions, and only kept the comments in mind for later if I had calibration issues. My calibrations all passed the first time just from following the instructions, and then I started printing models I already had ready to go. I used the recommended Prusa slicer software and the default settings deliver some impressive results. I would say that the inexpensive Elegoo PLA filament that I bought with it works great! ... show more

  • Be mechanically inclined if you buy the kit.

This is a great product. I would suggest to be very patient and carefully read assembly instructions if you get the kit. The belt tuning (tension) app didn't work for me, but it's not necessary.

  • Well... I happy but missing parts please read
Style: DIY Kit
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I wanted a second Prusa I already own an MK3S and I love it! So why not an MK4S. Unfortunately the kit was missing the trapazoid nuts. They where not in the motor box 🙄. Anyways I reached to Amazon they suggested I ship the whole thing back and exchange it. I think thats a waste of time for Me, Amazon employees, and Prusa. I just ordered the Nuts. I will say after building this Printer WoW! night and day difference from MK3s. I will say that because this printer is Open source finding parts, it is very easy, and that's why I stick with prusa. And of course the quality 👌 😉 I give the printer it self a 5/5 I give Prusa QC 3/5 for there mistake of not including trapazoid nut. For a total score of 4/5 Update 7/21/2025 LCD died after 3 days 😪 I will contact Prusa directly Guess I will get to review support now. So product review is now 1 star. ... show more

  • Not as advertised.
Style: DIY Kit
Purchased what was supposed to be a "New Kit". What was received was not New. It was a partially assembled (incorrectly) set of parts. All of the fasteners, were loose in the box, a or missing entirely. Wiring was installed, but ran incorrectly. There was no manual as described in the item description, and the spring steel sheet that you print on was missing as well. The print head had the extruder nozzle installed backwards and nylock fasteners were threaded on backwards. Not what we expected from PRUSA. We performed a complete disassembly and reassembled unit and were able to successfully print. The instructions (QR code) were not helpful and often contradicted themselves. Youtube is your friend in this regard. The manual would have been helpful if it had been sent, as indicated in the product description. This was purchased for a business and the associated assembling the printer have prior experience with this brand. Next time we will not purchse through Amazon and we will go direct to PRUSA instead. Bottom line, the printer works after significant rework. We will be purchasing missing components direct from PRUSA in the future. ... show more
