Kit works fantastic for keeping my chainsaw chain razor sharp! This was a great value purchase for a maintenance activity that not enough people do on a regular basis! I will do a quick run through my chain following the guide every few uses and it makes a big difference especially when cutting through hardwoods. Good variety pack and I've used the other pieces for some other odd jobs. Roll up kit is convenient enough to store with my chainsaw and always bring it along with my bar oil. We've used a chain saw occasionally and have always taken the chain in to be sharpened . However, this summer we had our property " logged" and the amount of tree limbs left behind was incredible! There was no way we could do the clean-up without hubby sharpening the chains himself. This kit has everything he needs to keep the saw sharp. The files feel very durable and strong. It only took 3-4 passes over each tooth to get the saw sharpened and we were back to work. There are 3 different sized round files plus a file for the rakers, which makes it versatile if you have more than one brand. The file guide works well for accuracy and consistency with both the angle and depth. It comes with a pouch so it's easy to keep it with the saw and bar oil and take with you in the field. All in all this is durable, strong and convenient, which makes it a good value. ... show more

It's tough to tell until you've had hands on, but a good quality file does make all the difference. This kit contains everything you could need to sharpen most chains quickly and efficiently. The handle is fairly nice, the guide feels sturdy. The files themselves are very straight and take enough off to only need 3-4 passes per tooth if you're not abusing your chain. Like most things, it takes less effort if you sharpen your chain more frequently rather than letting them get dull and trying to do a full reprofile. Watch a few youtube videos and just start sharpening. I find it to be a good opportunity to take a break from felling or bucking. My one wish is that the roll be rubberized on the backside so I don't have to keep it stashed away from the rain. ... show more

I’ve been sharpening my chains with the Stihl tool for years. I ordered this Oregon kit purely out of curiosity. So glad I did because until now, I thought the Stihl sharpening tool did a good job but compared to this sharpening kit, it does not! The kit comes with three different sized files, which is very handy as I have several different pitch chains. Also, I wasn’t aware how important it is to keep an eye on the depth gauge of the chain. By following the provided instructions, I sharpening the chain, which is probably 5 years old, and the saw now cuts better than ever. I’m ordering another of these Oregon sharpening kits today.
