  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool
My chain saw is very good. The battery is quite hefty as far as interchangeable batteries go, but the overall weight and balance of the chain saw with the battery inserted is excellent. And it rips through six inch plus branches with ease. I used it extensively to cut back and log an old and twisted tree and the battery was still half-charged at the end of a couple of hours work. I didn’t have any difficulty attaching the chain, as some reported, by making sure the tension adjust was in its most forward position before trying. I haven’t tried the sharpener function but it appears to be robustly thought out. I expect it to work, but I have to blunt the chain first and I haven’t got there yet!! I retensioned the blade after ~20 cuts and it was easy with the big red knob. No Allen key needed. Hurrah! Overall, I’m very pleased with this product. I do only have it for occasional use. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Works great
If you're looking at reviews, this saw doesn't score well. It doesn't have the power of others but the self sharpening is pretty nice and I'd take a slower saw with a sharper blade over something that is more powerful but bogs down as the blade dulls. The speed tests always assume the blade is sharp but it doesn't stay sharp. With this saw you always have a sharp blade and the job is easier. So far I'm satisfied. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Best Purchase
People like to make fun of electric chainsaws but I personally love them, even though I've been cutting lumber for fire wood and fire mitigation for 35 years. Instant on, sharpens to a razor edge in 3 seconds without having to pull out tools and power to spare. Also, I can start working any time in the morning without having to worry about waking up my neighbors. I own a gas chainsaw for further into my property that I couldn't get power to my other Oregon electric chainsaw and hated it. It is loud, bogged down in green trees and took 20 minutes to sharpen if it went into the dirt. This one I grab the battery out of the charger and I can drop several trees, branch them, cut them into logs for transport and still have half of a battery left. It is so much easier than dealing with the gas beast. The self-sharpening on these Oregon chainsaws are such a game changer. Start the blade, pull the lever for 2-3 seconds (NOT shooting the sparks into anything dry) and go on with your work. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Sharping feature
Built in sharpener is a nice feature. Oil to chain works well. I use this at home. I cut several trees no larger than a foot diameter in to fire wood. Trimmed several more without issues. Taking slack out of the cutting chain works with ease. No oil leaks while in storage. Battery charger is very nice. Battery life is longer than i care to cut. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Keep it clean and it will last a long time
This purchase replaced the same thing we've had for 4+ years. We liked it so much, we bought another. It's reliable. Our use is for tree limbs up to12" diameter. Pretty good run time on the 4 amp battery.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good.
First, let me say I did not buy this saw for heavy use, just the occasional trimming and cleanup after storms. This will not replace my gas saws, I just wanted something to grab and go with. I am happy so far. It has seen about four hours of use to date. Battery life is around an hour in heavy (and I do mean heavy for it) use. The power is sufficient for the size and what I would imagine would be the typical user for this type of saw. It saws six inch ash and cedar no problem and I used it to limb out and cut up a 14 inch cedar that was 25 feet tall. I sharpen the chain after each day of use and it holds an edge reasonably well. It seems to be a tad lighter than my comparable size gas saws, but its not a huge difference. I do love the fact that there is no pull starting and gas/oil mix to fool with. Just pull the trigger and it goes to work. The chain will need some adjusting at first. If you have used a chainsaw before, you know this is true of just about all of them. The fact you don't need a tool for that is nice. Just like everything, if you don't expect it to do more than It was intended for and you take care of it like you are supposed to, I believe you could see a good deal of service from this. Time will tell. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome battery operated chain Saw
You won’t be dissatisfied. Saw is very sharp from the box. Good power and I’ve cut some very large logs so far. The built in sharpener is genius. I’ve had several other battery operated saws and the Oregon is by far better then any of them. Battery is good and last at least a hour or more with steady cutting. ... show more
