I got a pair for my work boots. They are supportive for your arch and stability, and they really lack any extra cushion. They aren't bad, and many people will love them, but I was looking for more cushion than these provide. That said, I'm still wearing these everyday at work until they become unservicable. They are really well made and offer support, they just don't absorb much impact.

Great insoles that are actually stiff and supportive but low profile, while being long and wide enough for real use by people with shoe sizes US15/EU50 and up. You could probably use these even if you had a size 17. Heel cup is wide if you have a broad or wide foot. Should work best in boots or dress shoes, though I would even try them in runners, too.
