  • A Powerful Oral B
Color: Black Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I was a Sonicare guy. When it died, I got a base Oral B since it that was what was offered by my insurance. Then I got an Oral B Pro 1000 for Christmas. That brush was more powerful than my base model and I liked it a lot until I dropped it and broke it. Stuck with a drawer full of Oral B replacement brush heads, I decided to upgrade to this model. Wow. This thing is much more powerful than the 1000. It feels to me as though this Oral B has the power that my old Sonicare used to have. It seems this has a bigger motor and battery than my other two Oral B brushes. It has a two week battery as compared to the 10 day battery on the 1000 and one week battery on the base model. It also charges faster, even though it uses the same charger as the other models. But it’s the power that’s the important thing here. It really blasts off debris and build-up. The three modes are “Daily,” the full speed mode, “gentle” mode is just a lower speed. The whitening mode is the most entertaining as it repeatedly ramps up speed. You can’t help being reminded of a sports car running through the gears on an acceleration run. I don’t know why this is called a “smart” toothbrush. It doesn’t have bluetooth or tie into an app, or anything like that. It does have a charging light. (The base model doesn’t). It has a brush timer that just stutters the motor every 30 seconds and stutters repeatedly every two minutes. It does not shut off like a Sonicare does. The red pressure sensor light works, but you have to be pressing way too hard to receive a warning. So it’s a powerful brush with useful features and without the silly features. It uses standard Oral B brush heads that are available in many varieties for general and specialty uses. I’m glad I bought this. ... show more

  • Cleans well but definitely has flaws
Color: Black Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Had this a while and it works pretty well but has some definite design flaws. The handle collects water and I have to let it dry out before putting it on the charger or else it drips out. The handle also gets very slippery when wet and can be hard to hold. The power button doesn't work consistently, sometimes you have to press it twice to turn on. As for shutting off, it works as it should by holding down the button for a couple seconds. The red light pressure indicator on mine takes tons of pressure to light up, almost need to press down with two hands, so that feature is pretty much useless for me whereas some people say it's too sensitive so who knows. I expected the power to be even stronger considering it's pretty loud but it's strong enough; it cleans well and that's the main thing. ... show more

  • Great toothbrush!
Color: White Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I just got this electric toothbrush recently to replace an older Oral B electric. This one works better and is more effective in cleaning my teeth. Will have to see how well the battery hold a charge.

  • Great cleaning power
Color: Black Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I bought one for myself and my wife. They work awesome and the battery life is nice. The timer is also a nice feature to keep brushing consistent.

  • Good value, but different than shown
Color: White Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
First, there is some ambiguity currently on this item's listing page. The item pictured is a Pro 1500, while the title says Smart 1500 (which I didn't notice when I made the purchase). Apparently the Smart 1500 is the new model of this toothbrush – it's essentially the same, just with some cosmetic differences (see pics... has a more streamlined look, the battery indicator is just a small LED instead of a battery icon, and the pressure indicator light is the new 360 degree style). No complaints there, I actually prefer the new look, and of course it still has the (better) lithium ion battery. However, there is one functional difference that I've noticed. The description on this page shows that it only has one cleaning mode (Daily Clean), but I had established from reading various sources that this was incorrect, the Pro 1500 also has Sensitive mode. The page for the Smart 1500 (again, the updated version of this product which I received) on Oral B's site does say it has the two modes. BUT, in reality it actually has THREE modes, adding the Whitening mode. The manual that came with it does mention this mode, but apparently the marketing people didn't get the memo. I'd actually personally count this as a slight negative, because I only use the Daily Clean mode, and the other two modes means I have to push the power button three times to turn it off when I'm finished brushing. Not a big deal, just a minor annoyance. The other thing I wanted to mention is the noise. I've used an Oral B "Pro 5000" (not sure if that's the exact name, but it's the one with a standalone timer display) since 2014, and I've been happy with it, but the battery is declining in capacity, so I was ready to replace it (and I decided to go with a more basic model this time). However, I was struck with fear over the various reviews here of the current generation of Oral B toothbrushes (with the exception of the new iO series) that mentioned how unbelievably LOUD they are. I didn't find my old model to be excessively loud, so my concern was that they made a design change that made the new models significantly louder. But in the end, this was not the case... as you can see in the pics, the Smart 1500's noise level is identical to my older one. They do sound a little different (presumably because the newer one is more powerful), but there's no significant difference in volume. So, the "it's too loud" comments are probably comparing it to a Sonicare (which is indeed much quieter). Lastly, I really wish Oral B would implement a user-replaceable battery. I'm no environmentalist, but I hate when I have to add to the landfill by throwing away a perfectly good device that is no longer usable simply because the battery doesn't hold a charge. I know Oral B's job is to sell as many toothbrushes as possible, and I also understand that from a design/engineering perspective it can complicate things a bit. But it's so wasteful to have to throw away things that still have plenty of life in them. And, honestly, this influenced me to buy $60 toothbrush this time as opposed to the fancier $250 one... though I got a solid solid six years out of my previous one, "the battery died prematurely" is a common refrain in reviews of Oral B toothbrushes. Knowing I could have to throw a very expensive toothbrush in the trash if the battery happened to die shortly after the two year warranty was up pushed me to this cheaper model instead (which I wouldn't cry about if I only got two years use out of it). If the battery was user-replaceable, I would have been more likely to splurge on the iO model. ... show more
