  • Great Bike! But it's big!
I wanted to wait until I had 200 miles on the bike before writing a review to be able to give it a fair assessment. When this bike came I was a bit shocked by how big it was. We have a full sized SUV and folding it in half and putting it in the back is a bit of a challenge when you're alone. This 69lbs monster is difficult to wrestle with, mainly because there is no latching mechanism to keep it locked folded. I use a bungie cord to accomplish this now. As far as performance, this thing is awesome. This is my first e-bike so I have no reference to go on, but it is ALOT of fun. I have taken it mt. biking/going on trails in Colorado Springs and biking through Chicago and it handles well in either situation. The motor is strong, fast, and and I haven't experienced any drop-off in battery capacity yet. I did notice on some of my longer rides if you hold the throttle for too long the battery starts dropping pretty quick just to jump back up after letting it rest. With pedal assist 2 I have gone 42 miles and ended up with 26% battery remaining at the end. My only greivances/wish-list for the product are: 1. No electric tail lights, just a headlight. 2. The instruction manual leaves a bit to be desired. I wish the pictures were more high quality, or a website existed showing a step by step construction guide. I was a bit thrown off when I realized the shocks had two different sized bolts. 3. Wish there was a latch to keep the bike closed when folded. 4. Can't wait for more official OPEAK accessories to be released. I have had trouble going third party int he past and prefer to buy directly from the mfr. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. Update: I have over 1000 miles on the bike now and it is still holding up. Had to change the tires and the disc breaks need some love, but other than that she's still going strong. If there has been any drop off in the battery it is minor. I just wanted to update to say that the pedal somehow came loose and striped out of the crank arm. I notified the company and they took care of the problem right away. I love good customer service. ... show more

  • Well done
I have to say ,thus far I have never written a review on Amazon. But I have to say this bike is pretty amazing. Now I did about 4 days of reacearch as I had time on and off compairing other bikes. This bike has a great overall value and it is fitted with exactly what you would want over all and then some. I did have a issue with some shipping damage to box to one of the front forks loosing some paint. But that is mostly why I am here. I am not joking in saying I got a responce in under an hour and I my expectation was within a day I assumed so that exceedy expectations. Then the seller took care of my challenges from shipping. Granted I have not received the parts to bring it to 100 percent yet. But my confidence is there that is will be resolved. Luckily it was all cosmetic for the most part and I was able to enjoy riding around EVERYWHER LOL. Now I'm 5.9 and about 190 and this bike is not huge in my opinion. I know some post this is huge... now the tires are in my mind that make it seem larger than it is. The bike rack adds to the larger feel but it's a bike rack an old bike with a bike rack would feel and look the same in terms of stature. Now one thing to note, was the tires ,,,probably do to how it's shipped. The tires Needed to be aired up concerderably. This by no means is a problem or a negative as again I'm sure it's just a shipping thing. Just make sure you check everything out front to back like you should in general before you set off at full throttle. Can't wait to continue to enjoy. One of the few purchases where I'm like wow no complaints. ... show more

  • Really Fun!
I give it 5 stars for fun, but ... Pros: It is a heck of a lot of fun to ride. I have had it up to 38mph in 5th gear with pedal assist. Keep in mind that it is a 60 lbs bike! I have put almost 200 miles on it in the three weeks I have owned it and it can go over a lot of stuff remarkably comfortably. It was pretty easy to put together other than dealing with the weight. It charged up well and consistently. The range is adequate for anything "around town" riding in electric alone (10-12 miles). With pedal assist, 20 miles is pretty easy to achieve and I weigh well over 200lbs. Would have probably given it 5 stars, but there were a couple of big cons that deserved the removal of 1 star. Cons : There is a U shaped metal bracket welded to the frame to protect the derailleur. It seems like a good idea, but mine was bent to the point that it was preventing the bike from shifting into its heavy gears. I had to physically bend it back out in order to use those gears. A real pain to do so because the power cord to the rear hub runs through it as well. Also, the hex wrench bolts loosen up way more than they should. At about 100 miles on the bike, my handle bars started rolling around 10 miles into a ride enough that I had to stop to find wrenches to fix them. At about 175 miles, the rear bracket which attached the rear fender to the frame snapped and the fender slid under my wheel 15 miles into a ride. I had to rip off the rest of the attachments to the fender and toss it in order to finish the last 10 miles of my ride. So, not perfect, but still really fun. Also, if you are planning on any rides over 25-30 miles, be prepared to ride a really heavy bike with no power. Good exercise, but not "really fun". ... show more
