  • Didn't realize what I was missing!
Color: White
Preface - I was previously using a lovely sage green 16gb Ad Free Kindle Paperwhite and Kindles are good for what they are - a device to run the Kindle app. However, after using the Boox for 24 hours, which includes the Kindle app, I can't recommend loud enough to purchase any brand e-reader that allows for app installation over a Kindle e-reader that only supports 1 proprietary app. The functionality, comfort and responsiveness of the BOOX blows Kindles to smithereens mwahahah. The BOOX is 1/2 of the weight of the Kindle and I like the upgrade of having page turning buttons and all the gestures/ shortcuts. It does ghost because that's the nature of e-ink, but the OS response time is pretty quick and there are different setting to help mitigate the ghosting depending what activities you're doing. I downloaded some puzzle/ word games, which is another nice touch. I also really like that I'm able to use other reading apps, like Google Books, that will read your books to you. True audiobooks are a bit better quality, but it's definitely a plus for me. The only minute cons I'll advise are: 1. There is no native dark mode for the OS. You can change individual app settings to read your books in dark mode or download launchers from the play store, but IMO leaving it set to white is more legible and easier on the eyes. 2. It doesn't automatically set your current book's book cover as your screen saver. You have to manually set it. Neither are deal breakers, just minor inconveniences if they are important to you. ... show more

  • The best e-reader I've ever had by far.
Color: Black
I could not be happier with this device. The display is as good or better than any e-reader that I've ever had. The best thing is how versatile it is. I have Kindle, Kobo and Libby apps installed. I also have Moon+ reader which is my favorite for EPubs. Pretty much any reader app you can get off the Google Play store will work. It has lots of storage and the ability to also take a micro SD card. The battery lasts a very long time, especially if you turn the wifi off. There is a small learning curve with some of the settings but it's pretty easy. There is also a pen available for it but I don't have that and probably won't bother. ... show more

  • Best compact e-reader
Color: Black
Nice and fast e-reader. Comparing to Paperwhite - more comfortable form-factor and better UX

  • Returned this unfortunately
Color: Black
Just bought the Go 7 BW (day 1 today) and was hoping to replace my old Page and I am already positive that I’ll be returning this. The screen is darker than the Page and I’ve noticed that the screen color is off for me as well. This device is noticeably more yellow than my Page and the contrast is a lot worse. The blacks aren’t nearly as black and the screen almost seems fuzzier. I wanted this for the note taking feature, but I already know I won’t be happy with this device so I’m planning to return it on Monday or Tuesday. (For reference, my Page is on the left and my Go 7 BW is on the right) I’ve also noticed the screen responsiveness isn’t as accurate. And it won’t let me reorder my Home Screen apps. Whenever I try, it just continuously opens the app I’m trying to move. The one thing I love about the Go 7 are the upgraded page turn buttons but the other things listed just make this upgrade not worth it. I’ll be sticking with my Page and hopefully they’ll release an upgraded Page in the future. An update: I actually did a replacement to see if the responsiveness on my device got better and found that the new one had all of the same issues I’ve listed above. I wasn’t even able to highlight a line of text in Neoreader. Fuzzy text again, not responsive, and a really yellow screen. I will say that I never had the stylus to test the responsiveness on the device then, so I’m not sure if that matters.. but the device should respond accurately to the user’s fingers and this just wasn’t the case. Even if I could overlook the poor screen faults, I couldn’t force myself to suffer through the screen inaccuracies. If you’re looking at a BW ereader, I highly recommend the Page. It basically does all the same as the Go7 BW (but better). It just doesn’t have the stylus functionality. ... show more
