  • A Good Security Surveillance System A Good Security Surveillance System
I purchased the Onwote 4K, 16ch NVR system with 8 4K POE wired cameras back in the summer of '21. My system is still working great today. They system was not hard to setup, I used the included cables and ran the wires through the attic to the various camera locations. I placed the NVR in a closet on a small server rack. I ran an extended HDMI cable to a 50' TV and the images are full 1080p HD. I also ran an extended USB over Ethernet to be able to use the mouse from the desk 40ft away from the NVR. A few of the cameras have failed, however Onwote was quick to replace them. They are definitely a company that cares for its customers. They have always been quick to respond to any messages I have sent. I have recommended Onwote to family and friends. I am very pleased with my system. ... show more

  • A great device
I bought this device and separate onwote cameras to complete it to 16. I included 3 ptz cameras also. All ptz are working. Some cameras were even more Than 100 meters far away from the nvr but with good high quality cables everything worked as expected. I had some issues while doing the whole setup including one camera with an ip conflict but there was luckily an easy fix with just 3 mouse clicks. This is a Very good device and ease of use. Sound quality is good as well as the picture quality. I love the AI embarked on. It is really great for diy setup. I will keep buying because the support was there also to help me with every single detail. ... show more

  • Great camera system with good customer support
Worked great as a replacement for my previous one which was a REOLINK. The harddrive went kaput on the old one twice then it died permanently. Comparing the two I think this ONWOTE Camera System is better overall. It has more ports to connect a lot of cameras. The one thing I’m still trying to figure out is how to connect a ring doorbell camera to it. REOLINK made one that I used for that system but ONWOTE doesn’t. Not a deal-breaker but I did like having one connected to my system. I called ONWOTE support and they couldn’t recommend one but they gave me the parameters needed. I just haven’t spent the time needed to find one. I definitely recommend this camera system. It’s a bit more expensive than some, but the features and customer support make it well worth the cost. ... show more

  • Waste of time and money.
I've had this system for 2 years now. I set up 5 cameras and currently only 1 still works. Only 4 worked initially, so I thought was the cable. Changed the cable, and it still doesn't work. If the power goes out, the cameras will take a week or even 2 weeks to come back on. Why?? The menu is crap.. so convoluted I have no idea why it's setup this way. Playback is finicky at best, you cant just click on the movement alert. Do not waste money on this system. ... show more

  • Awesome with minimal frustrations.
First off, the price is a little steep. I’ve purchased systems with similar capabilities for a lot less. So if you just need something simple, I would suggest doing some research first. There’s also a couple of issues I have with paying so much for a system with some minor flaws, such as not being able to rotate the image with the software (I’ll come back to that). With that said, you do get what you pay for here (mostly). To respond to the reviews that said they couldn’t get certain aspects to work: I was able to fast forward while reviewing from the NVR. My app has quick and steady playback features (best of any security cameras I’ve owned so far). The digital zoom is intense (although, not customizable, so it’s all the way zoomed in or nothing). The installation was super easy with one minor hiccup. The camera domes (which rotate) all made it seem like the cameras were supposed to be installed a specific way. So once I had every camera installed and the wiring run to the NVR, it turned out that every single camera was upside down. So I’m not sure if someone rotated these the wrong way intentionally, or if they “all” come like that, but you’ll need to make sure your cameras are right side up before mounting. Now, this wouldn’t have been a big issue either, if I was able to rotate the view via the software like every camera I’ve purchased in the past 10+ years, but that option isn’t available and that really doesn’t make sense to me, it’s 2022, there’s really no excuse not to have that option. I tried to do it from the NVR with no success, tried it from the app with no success and went out of my way to download the PC software and still wasn’t able to do it (the pc software kept saying, “error saving” or something to that effect. Tried it 20 times and gave up). So this meant I had to go physically rotate every installed camera. Since I finished the install at night, I had to wait til the next day to do this since I have black widows and brown recluses everywhere. One spider started coming down towards my hand when I rotated the first camera and I said “nope” and had to go the night with upside down views. Long explanation, but it was very frustrating that in 2022, this software can’t or “won’t” rotate with the click of a mouse. I utilized four of the 60’ cables included, which I cut down to 30-15’ and there is no drop off in image quality or additional lag. I actually purchased CAT6 and CAT6A several months ago because of articles I’ve read about signal loss at so many feet for CAT5 cable and after reading some reviews about lag and image quality, I was worried this would be an issue but it hasn’t seemed to have had a noticeable impact for these cameras. The longer distance cameras are well over 60 feet away from the NVR and I used CAT5E (direct burial) cable that I had to spare. There is no noticeable difference in image quality there either. The push notifications are a life saver. I get notified for every motion. I did have an issue with getting motion notifications on areas that I didn’t have set, so that’s a drag. I want to say my phone battery might have taken a hit because of it. As of writing this review, it seems like the settings may have finally saved, because I haven’t been getting the notifications (on an area that covers the property and the street where cars constantly drive by). So I want to say that problem might have finally been fixed. The last two flaws, one of the cameras has a weird artifact on the nighttime vision which was there the previous night and isn’t on the exterior glass (i.e. dirt or debris) and that same camera also has a weird red tint when the color is activated, but all of the settings are correct. So all in all, if you have the money to spare, I would highly recommend this purchase. It’s a 16 channel NVR, that comes with a four terrabyte hard drive, free app with push notifications and additional ability to make changes to the settings and it comes with 8 cameras and all the network cable you need. The dome cameras are super cool and the image quality is outstanding! The playback (for me) is instantaneous and easy to navigate. One more thing I need to add. These cameras are “supposed” to be powered by the network cable… even though I saw the seller make a statement about needing to power them. So just a quick fyi, there was no power supplies provided, but I was replacing a third set of cameras and I already had power supplies available. So this may or may not have an effect on my image quality. Just wanted to throw that disclaimer out there. ... show more

  • Excellent 4K Security Upgrade
I've VERY happy with my purchase. I used this system to replace the existing HD quality system I had and upgraded it to 4K. I had 6 cameras wired with cat5e but the old recorder didn't have PoE so I was able to get rid of the old power box/module when I upgraded. The wider field of view on these cameras allowed me to position the cameras to capture my entryways while still capturing all the street-side views my old system covered. I wanted to be able to keep many weeks of footage so I took advantage of the second bay and upgraded both storage slots with 10TB each Seagate hard drives for a total of 20TB. I haven't had the system installed long enough to confirm but the system UI tells me this is enough storage for 4 months of data. I was able to use my existing monitor with built-in speakers to listen tot he audio from the cameras by switching to an HDMI cable. I also noticed that the Guard Viewer mobile app to view the cameras remotely is significantly faster to load and less buggy than the SuperLive Plus I was using on the old system. I was able to install the system myself without having to pay for someone to do it for me. It took me 2.5 days and I had to learn how to cut and patch the existing cat5e cables using a RJ-45 crimping tool. I had to watch a couple of Youtube videos and ruined quite a few adapters before I got the hang of it. After installed 6 cameras, I memorized the cat5e wire color order. :) The night vision on these cameras is really nice, with 4 of the 6 cameras having enough light coming off my exterior lights so that they stay in color all night; my old system had all 6 cameras going black and white after sunset. It goes without saying that the 4K resolution is totally worth the price. My only gripe is that I couldn't get a 6 camera version of this kit so I have 2 cameras left over. All in all, I would buy this system again for any future properties. ... show more

  • 2nd system from Onwote, and working great!
I've purchased two of these NVR/PoE security systems from Onwote, and they have been a breeze to set-up and use. The first was in an office space with exposed & drop ceilings. The install was super simple, and you get everything you need right in the box (besides maybe a screw gun and a monitor for playback). The cables are sufficiently long to reach just about anywhere. The cameras were plug-and-play, looked great, and had decent audio. The GUI takes some time to understand, but everything that you'd want to do is right there at your fingertips. The second install was a bit more complicated, involving a house with a detatched garage. I needed to route some of the cameras through a network switch connected to a router, instead of directly to the NVR. Onwote support was super helpful on letting me know exactly how to connect it, and how to get the cameras recognized on the system. This time we opted for the 4K, and the image is AMAZING. I don't even have a 4K monitor to view it, but it is super detailed and crisp. Audio again is great. And this install had outside cameras, and I am amazed at just how much IR light these things put out, and really light up the image at night. The clarity and viewing distance is great. The Field of View angle is just right. I've hooked the NVR to the internet and downloaded the app, and have no issues seeing my cameras from anywhere I go. I can seamlessly playback video from a month ago, while not even being in the same state. It all just works. There is also a ton of settings that I have yet to dig into. Like setting schedules and motion detection for the cameras so they don't eat up the storage space, setting motion alarms and notifications that can be sent to your phone, fine tuning the image of each camera, etc. In short, these systems have been great. No complaints so far, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a simple but reliable solution! ... show more

  • Quality and easy setup
Beautiful system. Easy to setup, great cameras with super clear views. Recording ability is great. I added another hard drive to be able to go back 40+ days to review cameras. Can view remotely from my phone or laptop which is nice to able to keep an eye on things and even turn on the camera sound! We have two of these systems in two stores for a total of four. Plus has added 22 additional cameras for more viewing. You will not be disappointed! ... show more
